Wear every day
This is my go-to glove for general use. I have 4 sets of gloves but the other 3 are for special applications. For example I must use a rope swing to transfer between boats and docks or boats and platforms offshore. I have what I call a Spider-Man set of gloves when I have to handle a rope to swing. The leather gloves that is the subject of this review are perfect for every day general use.

Strange fit for my hands
I have fairly large hands, and ordered the XXL. I also have the XL ones, and once they're on, they fit fine. The problem is getting them on. The opening is a bit too small, and getting my hand into them is a struggle. My issue with the XXL is that it seems to have the EXACT SAME SIZE opening as the XL. I was hoping the XXL would be easier to get on/off. They are a real struggle to get on, but once on, there is lots of room. The fingers on these gloves are very large - too large for me. The XL is a better fit for me after the struggle to get them on.

Solid gloves
I was looking for good outdoor gloves that would also keep warm in the colder months. These are meeting the needs so far! Main use is for firewood - splitting, stacking, cutting, but I use for most outdoor chores. I was considering something like vermont gloves, but they are very expensive. I figured I could get 3 or 4 of these for the price of one pair of vermont. You can get those reparied, but that is more than these gloves cost as well. I don't know the logevity yet, but so far after a few months of use, they are holding up great. I'm not a full time user of work gloves, just hobby farm type stuff on several acres. They also afford quite a bit of dexterity for bigger work gloves and fit is very good.

Not quite the leather advertised in the listing
I purchased these gloves twice, once form Amazon Prime and once from Dungarees,, not that I need to learn the hard way! I have gotten these gloves from local vendors previously and my husband is in love with the sturdiness of the product. So with style number A553 in front of me I ordered them online and found them very different from the Amazon listing to the actual glove. I have posted pictures of these differences but I will also list them below in the event the photos don't come out clearly. To many it won't matter but just in case your looking for the exact glove as listed it might. The product description information lists:Item model number : A553-BROWN-S and the add lists Carhartt Men's Leather Fencer Work Glove But the product cardboard attached lists Work and Garden for glove A553 received. The add lists Color: Brown : Shell: 100% Leather: Imported : Pull On closure: Suede cowhide What I got for the material per the tag in the glove is 50% nylon and 50% polyurethane. If you have read through my review till this point I hope you found this helpful when deciding to choose this particular Carhardtt product.

Need for durability
A few years ago, I purchased, if not these gloves, ones very familiar. A few weeks ago, I lost one in a hike through the woods behind my home, with my harnessed and leashed cat. I needed gloves which were impervious to thorny vines so when he goes under the vines, I can safely push them out of my way.Alas, on one such walk I lost one glove and needed a replacement. Not available in Lowe’s nor Home Depot, I found them on Amazon.I’ve used the new gloves on the walks, as well as pulling tree stumps, gardening, hauling limbs and digging holes, and the gloves are wry durable. They wash well, too.I don’t recommend them for work in cold weather which I didn’t expect. Otherwise I highly recommend them for tough chores
