So far it’s been a great heater!
Bought this for my pitbull, I live in north central indiana and our winters aren’t horrible but many nights in the low teens and so far it’s kept my dog super comfortable, maybe even too warm at times! The video is nice cause I can check on her while I’m at work or when bad weather rolls in without having to physically be there. I installed the unit on an igloo doghouse and had to buy the special bracket designed for that style of round dog house but I wanted to make sure it was installed correctly. I also bought some reflective heat insulation on a roll and stapled it to the entire inside of the house before mounting. I’m sure that has helped keep the heat in as well. I give it 5 stars so far and if it works until spring breaks then to me it’s well worth the money and peace of mind. I highly suggest it, I always physically check the warmth when feeding so I know the thermostat is correct and soon as I put my arm in her house I’m jealous cause she’s way warmer than I am inside the house lol. I’d suggest it to anyone wanting to keep their pet warm and comfortable in the winter, just take the time to read the manual and install correctly and it should work just as good for you I’d think.

BEST HEATER EVER
I cannot say enough good things about this heater! I inherited a dog and am not a fan of animals inside my home so I struggled with how to keep her warm during the winter. I got her a nice big doghouse and installed the Akoma heater. The temperature got down to 14 degrees here last night and her dog house was just as warm and toasty as it could be (and yes I walked out in those temps and checked to make sure it was warm). The best feature is that I can turn the heater on and adjust the temperature from my phone. It also has a camera that allows me to check on her at any time. Roxy absolutely LOVES her dog house and I love the Akoma Heater!

Bluetooth VERY disappointing
I paid a little more for the Bluetooth version of this heater, and it was a disappointment from the very beginning. I ordered two, installed them in my catio, and then do they quick search in the App Store using the company name - no results. Then I did an internet search using the company name - still no app. So I went to the company website to see if I could download the app directly from there, or at least get instructions on how to find the app - once again, nothing. Seriously?!? So I went back to the App Store and added "Hound" and I found it. I installed it and try to connect to my two heaters - no heaters found. I tried this multiple times and gave up. I decided I was going to do it the next day when I had more patience. I was excited to get these heaters up and running so my cats could be warm in their catio, but the Bluetooth version doesn't even have manual knobs to operate the heaters. So later that night I decided to try again. This time I went into my basement and stood next to the tunnel leading out to my catio. This time the app connected with ONE of my heaters. So I decided to walk outside and stand right next to the cage. This time the app connected to both of them. Unfortunately if you walk any further than 6 ft away from the heaters the app loses connection. That's absolutely worthless since most dog houses, catios, chicken coops, or whatever else people want to heat for their pets aren't going to be located in the living room. There's no way I'm going to walk outside to make sure my heaters are working or to adjust them. I decided to return these heaters and I found a more powerful pet safe heater that operates off wi-fi. Hopefully they work better than these do.

Best Well House Heater on the Market!
This unit is extremely rugged and temperature adjustable. It has a high, medium and low protected temperature dial, which acts like an old school thermostat. The settings activate at the following temperatures: Low= 40 degrees, Medium= 50 degrees and High= 60 degrees. Since my two well houses are isolated on the ranch, I installed two of these rugged heaters in each well house and set both on low for redundancy. My well houses are 5’x10’, insulated and stay at a constant 50 degrees in freezing weather using these units. No more burn out light bulbs and frozen pipes to repair. I even have one in my cover well head insulated box.

Shutoff and on excessively - otherwise great!
I actually bought both the Bluetooth version and the one with the knob. The one with the Bluetooth is hard to connect to unless you are in just the right spot and very close, but it’s really nice to be able to set the temp, as long as it can stay connected to Bluetooth long enough for you to set the temp. However, the Bluetooth one seems to shut off and on a lot. Seems to be when the area is close to the set temp. Not sure what that adds to the electric bill at this point and it does make it harder for the dog to acclimate to it.The one with the knob (no Bluetooth) does shut off at some point if the temp exceeds a certain point. And I have not found anything around it overly warm even if I forgot to turn it to low when the ambient temp got higher for a couple days… The thing that could be improved is the location of the knob. Of course that opens up the possibility for chewing and measures would have to be taken for that scenario, but the knob being in the top, where it’s going to be higher in your area, probably close to the top, it is hard to be able to see what you have the knob set to. So make sure you can see the knob because just turning it doesn’t click or anything to indicate where you are in the heat level. Both could have a slightly stronger fan, no louder…. Both could have a better metal sleeve for the cord, but the cord should not be accessible to the dog(s) anyway…But they do work…. They do give me piece of mind they aren’t freezing to death and I do not see these ever being able to catch anything on fire. I am very happy to have an option for the previously abused dog I cannot get in the house and the dog that can’t be freely around two of my other dogs yet. She’s an older dog that was abandoned in late fall so I haven’t had time to work with her and fear the weather and temperature in the mean time…
