Learning Linocut: A Comprehensive Guide to the Art of Relief Printing Through Linocut

It has been decades since I first did lino printing and I wanted a simple and concise guide book to refresh my memory and this was excellent for that purpose. This type of print making isn't technically complex so I could easily remember the basic stuff but where this came in handy was with regard to the details which I had long forgotten so well worth the cost of the book. It is well written and goes straight to the point without lots of...padding. If you were starting out, this would be pretty much all you need to get going, from there on it is all down to practice, practice, practice.

I am a beginner to Lino cutting and have to say this book is just brilliant! This artist really knows her subject and equally important is obviously a gifted and most generous teacher! Great advice, clear, easy to follow steps that encourage good habits and development of one's own creativity. If I say I have even taken this book to bed with me recently, will I sound like a geek?

I bought this for my wife who has just got into lino printing. It’s for Christmas so she hasn’t used it yet and therefore I can’t comment on how good the contents are.Unfortunately I was a bit underwhelmed when I looked at the book. It’s been printed on quite low quality paper with a matte finish and the photographs of the author demonstrating things are equally low quality.I think for £17 it’s reasonable to expect something with a higher quality finish to be honest.

I have just completed a two-term course on printmaking at university, mainly to learn about linocut - but this book has taught me so much more. It covers everything to do with the craft - it is all there for me to access when I get stuck or need to know about materials etc. I can't see it being put on the bookshelf, it will always be right beside me on my desk. Just brilliant!

I'm fairly new to this artform and this book is really informative, easy to understand and gives good examples. I have learnt a lot from this book and it inspired me to get started.
