Makes a world of difference!
Back at the beginning of summer, I ordered a Sun Joe MJ401E mower for our small yard. 14", corded, bagging, and the cheapest power mower I could find. No bigger than our yard is, I figured it would be up to the task, and it is...except having never used a bagging mower before, I had no idea how much I would hate that aspect of the mower. That little bag fills up in a hurry, over and over, and makes the mower at least twice as heavy by the time it's full. Boo!I noticed that some of Sun Joe's better (more expensive) mowers can either bag or mulch, using an adapter piece in place of the bag to make it mulch. I figured I'd see if such an adapter might exist for my dinky little mower. No such luck, but I *did* find this side discharge accessory. Eureka! The side discharge chute accessory is ready to go, right out of the box. No assembly required. It pops onto the back of the mower the exact same way the bag does, easy peasey, no additional parts or tools. It would also be quick and easy to take off if I wanted to use the bag instead for some reason. And it does exactly what it's supposed to do - directs the grass out the back of the mower to the left of you as you mow. It's made mowing much quicker and easier, partly because I don't have to keep stopping to empty a bag, but also because the mower doesn't get weighed down by grass.Since this accessory hooks onto the back, it doesn't make your mower any "wider" like a flap sticking off the side of the deck would. You may end up mowing in a different pattern to keep the grass clippings from blowing into places you want to avoid, but such is the nature of side discharge mowers in general. It's not like that's a flaw of this product.Would definitely recommend this product!

Must have accessory!
I have one of the Sun Joe electric mowers and it’s already a hassle to deal with the cord. Add in that the tiny basket fills up every few minutes and it just makes the whole ordeal excruciatingly long and drawn out. I had to stop every few minutes and empty the basket before I could move on. I went online looking for anything that could help and saw this. I figured for how cheap it was, it wasn’t a major investment and if it worked great! If it didn’t, oh well. I got it in a few days and it popped right on and I went and tried it out. It shoots grass out of the side (not behind the mower onto your feet). It makes a huge mess BUT I was able to mow the lawn and not have to stop every few feet and empty the basket. It was a godsend! I let it shoot grass all over the lawn. I don’t really care about that but when you're near the patio or sidewalk, it will shoot grass all over the ground and you will have to clean that up or be very careful to shoot the grass only on the lawn side. I would definitely recommend this if you have one of their mowers. It’s a must have accessory!

Took a star away for poor packaging & dirtyness
I would've given it a full 5 stars but as you can see the box come in all messed up. It was ripped, bent, there was even a whole. Ontop of that, the product was dirty. I know it doesnt matter much since its going to get dirty anyway, but I'd like to take out a clean product out of the box without seeing footprints everywhere. Very disappointed in the packaging.Other than that, the side chute works great, its a lot smaller than I expected! I finall dont have to keep unbagging every 3 mins, it was very annoying and EXTREMELY TIME CONSUMING. BUT with this my mowing time was cut in half :), it shoots the grass pretty far, it can get on garden and stuff (I dont really care much about that though). Also a heads up: if your mowing next to the fence, make sure ur chute is facing the other away, unless you want grass clippings all over you.

Perfect for those areas where you don't want/need to bag clippings
It's strange how you find something like this only days after mentioning how handy it would be to have. We use our Mow Joe to cut the grass at our condo. Sure, our lawn maintenance company cuts the grass, but leaves it too high and doesn't bag it. We've worked really hard to ensure we have a golf-course-worthy lawn, and we like to make sure it looks ideal at all times, and the Mow Joe is a great tool for us. Some of the space behind our units are thick and brushy, however, and using the grass catcher in these areas simply adds extra work. By using this chute, we can continue to mow the area without stopping all the time to empty the catcher. Since this is more of a maintenance cut, picking up the clippings is not important. We originally tried using the Mow Joe without the chute or catcher, but this just caused the cuttings to accumulate under the mower. If you want to use the Mow Joe to cut areas where bagging the clippings is unnecessary, then this is the attachment for you

10 stars?
This thing absolutely completes this awesome little mower... wished I had known there was a "pro" version of the mower that came with this.I specifically bought this mower to finish off and distribute compost. This attachment allows me to shred and spread at the same time. I am legitimately abusing this whole setup intentionally to the point where I have to re sharpen the blade (I bought 3 to rotate) at the end of the day.So yeah... what else do you want to hear?Bought bagged compost that isn't quite "done" or has mulch? No problem... this thing destroys and distributes everything now right into your lawn. This attachment is significantly nicer than the ego side chute on my Dad's mower. It's a legitimately nice part

With great velocity comes great cleanup...
Nice to have the option to not bag the clippings, but this thing's angle is all wrong. The first row of grass I mowed with the chute on blasted grass no less than 8 feet to the left. My yard isn't very big and has a fair amount of landscaping, so keeping the grass in the grass meant blowing all the grass to the middle and then facing the reality of blowing it all over the yard again (by running over the piled up grass) or raking it up.It DOES work as it should, but due to the wide-open nature of the opening and the velocity of the grass clippings blasting out of it, be prepared to sweep, blow, or redistribute the clippings when you are done mowing.
