Great Idea
I have been looking for an umbrella to use while kayaking. And I think I have finally found it. I've had skin cancer and need to be in the shade, but love to be active. I've used hand held umbrellas and have tried to secure them on the kayak, but its impossible... I think this is going to be perfect. I have already found other uses like gardening, mowing the lawn and plan on using it at a pool bday party and kids soccer game. I may look funny to people, but I'm happily out of the sun!

A Must for Outdoor Gardening and Activities
I know it's meant for fishing but I purchased it to do my projects outside and some yard and garden clean up and trimming. Size is Perfect! Do use the strap for underneath your chin so it stays in place. When first opening, do take your time and be patient when you first open it per it folds into a small-scale size. After that it will be easy to open and close. Small enough to store away into a drawer when done. Very lightweight. Much better than a sun hat per coverage from the sun is greater. I highly recommend.

A Weird & Crazy looking but very highly Practical Umbrella Hat for use in both Rain & Sun!!!
This is my 2nd Umbrella Hat to date. My previous umbrella hat was much smaller and due to my size, and needs, I felt the need to go with this larger umbrella hat.So I had been looking forward to getting this newly-sized umbrella hat and have been very happy with it ever since it arrived. In terms of providing as good a review as possible, I will be listing the Pros and Cons and only dinged it 1 star for a 4 out of 5 stars rating due to the Cons...Pros:> It's completely Waterproof and Sunproof> It has an extended diameter of 37.4 for all-around head protection> It has a wind vent> It has heat-reflective cloth that also works well in the rain> The headband is somewhat adjustable.> It has an easy pull tab and a velcro strap to assist in disassembly and easy closure.> There is an adjustable chin strap that can be easily tightened to ensure it keeps the umbrella hat in place in light stormy or light windy weather.> This hat is very light and is easily foldable for easy portability in various items, like bags, and backpacks, or easily stored in cars, trucks, boats, etc.Cons:> Although this is the biggest umbrella hat to date, I am a huge fan of Golf/Stadium Umbrellas. So for my needs, I could use its diameter being a lot bigger than the current 37.4 inches size, and if it could reach Golf/Stadium Umbrella sizing, that would be great.> The wind vent is not as easy to set up as pictured.> As the headband is flexible, it could use having an elastic cord at the back end to help tighten or loosen it as needed.> The headband could also use a head cradle to help properly ensure the hat is being worn correctly> The headband is not conducive for sweaty foreheads and can be irritating, I get around it by wearing a sweatband.> I was a little surprised that this umbrella hat's headband's sizing came with a tighter fit than my previous umbrella hat, it's a minor irritation.> The chinstrap could be anchored to multiple points to help stabilize the umbrella more easily as well as provide a more secure fit when it gets windy. I get around it by tilting the umbrella hat as needed to minimize the wind's effect.> The chinstrap's current setup is not ideal and could use a Y-strap setup to allow it to more easily be fitted around one's ears by being both in front and in back of one's ears.> Having some key anchor points at the ends of the umbrella hat would be great to allow one to add cords to help stabilize the hat in windy weather would also be a great add.> As noted in the details, this Umbrella Hat is not rated for windy weather, for the most part, I have gotten around it by tilting my head as needed and when necessary, I do go and switch to a backup hat that I carry in a spare pocket for use when needed.> Having the heat reflective cloth be a more brilliant sliver or adding a brilliant reflective Yellow, a fluorescent Safetly Lime or even a fluorescent Safety Orange color option would make this hat highly visible in rainy weather, (especially in the rainy evenings), and would be deeply appreciated to have as an option. I have gotten around this visibility limitation by ordering highly reflective stickers to place on my umbrella hat and that has improved the visibility. As noted at the beginning, I consider this umbrella hat a good rain & sun hat that I have enjoyed wearing. Although it does inspire some laughter from friends and family and even second looks from strangers, they all acknowledge it meets the need to keep my hands free and allows me to focus on tasks versus having to also balance holding an umbrella. Overall with that in mind, I would highly recommend this Umbrella Hat to anyone needing the use of both hands in either rainy or sunny weather.

Hands off
Good idea. Recieved broken. Ribs were broke. Generally needs away to keep the wind blowing off your head. Uncomfortable where umbrella support meets head band. Had a many loved it

Freaking awesome!
I've looked at a lot of umbrella hats over the past few years, but never bought one because the umbrella was always so small that I figured a sun hat and some spray silicone would work just as well and look a lot less stupid. This one is so big, and so inexpensive that I had to try it - AND I LOVE IT. It's wide enough to keep me completely dry while walking my dogs in the rain, and even without the chin strap cinched up, it stays in place while I bend over to pickup their messes. It's weirdly comfortable, doesn't blow off my head in a 5 mph wind, and doesn't look different from a regular umbrella from a distance, or the side, or even the front unless it's tilted enough for someone to see the head gear. Maybe I'm just getting older, but I'm not embarrassed to wear it. I will wear it all seasons to keep the rain and sun off me.One day someone will probably invent a more attractive head gear for these things, and I'll probably upgrade, and I wouldn't mind if it were just a few inches wider to keep me dryer in sideways rain, and maybe slightly deeper to hide the ugly head gear, but just as it is, it's an awesome umbrella, and a good investment of $10.

Returning immediately.
I received the item, and it is poorly crafted. The chin strap is maligned, so if you put it on with the elastic band at the back, it will be lop-sided. Other issue is, I purchased this item because I wanted to be hands-free while riding my scooter to work in the rain, but it says on the instructions "not to use in bad weather" lol. So what really is the point if it's not usable? This seems more like it was meant to be a novelty, not for practical use. Also, it is pretty much IMPOSSIBLE to get it to fold down as flat and neat as it originally comes in the packaging and in the sheath that it comes in. So good luck with that also.Better off buying a rain bonnet or rain visor than this thing. I'd hoped I'd found a solution to showing up to work absolutely drenched on rainy days. I'll take my chances with the rain poncho I've got coming on the way. That, coupled with the rain bonnet should hopefully do the trick and get me to work relatively dry for the most part.Very disappointed with this novelty hat. The concept of it is good, but it's not practical when put to the actual test. Thankfully it was only 10 bucks, so hardly a feather off my hat. Returning things with Amazon is very easy where I live (have at LEAST 3 return/drop off stations within walking distance), so I'm just gonna send it on in later today when I have time. It's a shame you can't use it in actual "bad weather" lol. I don't see the point of this if it can't be used for that.
