Outstanding Quality Pressings
I received the CCR Half Speed Boxed set of Studio Albums a few days ago, and have had time to play both sides of the 7 discs twice. I even spent some time comparing my vintage pressings of the same LP's with this Half Speed mastered set.I've been playing 33 RPM LP's for over 55 years, and I appreciate an outstanding pressing when I hear it.Here's my take on this boxed set: First, the mechanical pressing quality of these discs is some of the best I've seen. The spindle hole and the groove pressing are both perfectly centered on the disc, allowing the end of the tone arm to ride the groove without side to side motion that's typical on quite a few pressings. Sometimes the spindle hole, or the groove pressing, or both are not accurately centered on the disc. The other thing is they are virtually dead flat, no warpage at all. Again, the cartridge end of the tone arm rides level without up and down movement during playback. This shows a high degree of quality control during the pressing process. These discs were all pressed with superb dimensional accuracy. Also, the floor noise is minimal on these discs, virtually CD quiet between cuts. The Audio: If you're a big fan of CCR, and you have a good turntable with a Shibata or Micro-Line tipped cartridge, and your down stream gear and speakers are decent, you are in for a treat, making this boxed set a Must Have for your listening pleasure. If you have a consumer grade all in one box record player from a big box retailer, you probably won't hear any difference between these new pressings and vintage LP's. But if you have a better grade turntable and system that can extract the dynamics and detail these Half Speed masters contain, you will not be disappointed with this boxed set.The ONLY aberation from perfection on this set, was two sides, on the very last inner cut, apparently had a scratch across the final 8 or so revolutions. This Did NOT detract from my listening pleasure as the music was virtually faded out at that point anyway, so it was NO ISSUE for me. This is the BEST boxed set of LP"s that I currently have, hands down.Get your set before they are Gone!

VERY CLEAN AND CLEAR ; THE BEST VINYL CCR I'VE EVER HEARD
I turned 21 in the spring of 1969, so this is my era for music. Over the years I've had CCR on 8-track tape, vinyl, cassette, and of course compact disc. Yesterday I received my new CCR STUDIO ALBUMS COLLECTION in the mail from AMAZON. The boxed set arrived undamaged, which is always a plus...I didn't open it up till today...upon inspecting the set I found the quality of the albums covers to be very good in color and weight...I always change the inner sleeves to MOBILE FIDELITY inner sleeves...I like them over everything else... So far I've only played two of the seven albums, WILLY AND THE POOR BOYS and COZMO'S FACTORY...They sounded fantastic ,very quiet vinyl with a clarity I've never had before with CCR. My system is an OUTLAW stereo receiver (110 wpc) with a pair of KLIPSCH, FORTE' speakers. I have a Technics turntable and use an ORTOFON, CONCORDE cartridge. It's a good middle of the road system, but I like it quite a bit... CCR IS MEANT TO BE PLAYED LOUD...So I did, and was very happy with the sound. I really like this box set and the remastering job they did at ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS. It didn't hurt that the set was pressed in Germany on 180 gram vinyl...That's a lot of plusses to buy this set...I like it a lot...Lastly, lets not forget the albums were half speed mastered. Mobile Fidelity developed half speed mastering in the seventies. This method makes for a quality remastering job.

These sound better than the original pressing
I own 3 older Creedence Clearwater Revival albums, all in near mint condition, and these remastered LPs completely eclipse them. The warm, deep sound is amazing. I am extremely impressed with the quality of this pressing.

Good
I am a long-time CCR fan and this remaster really fleshed out the sound. The bass sounds deeper, the drums sound clearer, the guitar sounds cleaner. The music has never sounded better, if you can find it it is worth the money.

CLEAN, CLEAN, AND CLEAN AGAIN!
I had skipping issues and crackle and pops, the Green River album was the worst, and Cosmos's factory had some problems, so I wet cleaned them all at the sink, I even used a fingernail brush ( check out Youtube for wet cleaning tips & protecting the labels). Use distilled water for a final rinse and air dry them to avoid cloth particles from getting in the groves. I had to clean the worst ones a few times. They all played pretty good after the cleanings with sight crackle and pops, the ones I recall the worst were on the very end of Run Through The Jungle, but I still noticed a very, very slight skip almost not noticeable at the start of Bad Moon Rising, but with a different stylus and cartridge on my 2nd turntable I did not hear it, both tables are set up correctly,s o there should have been no difference, make sure your cartridge is set up correctly and your stylus is not worn and it is clean.Pros: I think the CCR LPs in the set sound very good, much better then most of the originals and I compared them to a few close-to-mint original blue label copies I have.Cons:I had the time being I`m retired to clean the LPs , but most people don`t, or would not want to, so I say send them back for a refund if they are skipping, don`t put up with it. If you chose to try and clean them up I can not promise they will stop skipping and play better, but it worked for me.Tip:I myself have stopped buying new records because my experience with new LPs today is the same as it was in the 60 &70s "no constancy in quality." I think records usually have a better sound or tone, but some CDs can sound better then records, and at least they don`t have the snap, crackle, and pops.
