Just Buy it NOW and you wont regret ever
Such a great book. I bought it thinking it will be another feminist read but the book was beyond any expectations. I read the book in couple of sittings only. I forgot to eat and drink also as I was so consumed by this book. This is the story of conviction, struggle, betrayal, will power and above all, LOVE. It talks just not about human emotions but also about the living conditions of women in Iran. It tells about what being a muslim women in a conservative muslim country means. The book is so fast paced that it feels one is watching a movie. Then i came to know that atually a movie ws made on this book. My husband whose choice of books is completely different of mine also read this book and found it engrossing. So, yes, this book is for everyone :)

THERE IS SO MUCH ALREADY WRITTEN ABOUT THIS BOOK. ...
THERE IS SO MUCH ALREADY WRITTEN ABOUT THIS BOOK. I CAN ONLY SAY THAT THE NARRATIVE IN THE BOOK COMPLETELY ENGROSSED & CONSUMED ME WHILE I READ THROUGH IT & EVEN AFTER I FINISHED READING IT..SINCE THIS IS A NARRATION OF TRUE STORY & THE AUTHOR HAS WITNESSED & SUFFERED 1ST HAND IT GIVES A VERY REAL VISUAL DIMENSION AND PERSPECTIVE TO THE HAPPENINGS STATED IN THE NARRATIVE.IT IS SAID THAT "TRUTH IS QUEER THAN FICTION". THIS WRITINGS PROVE IT TO THE CORE.THIS BOOK MADE ME RE-THINK ABOUT THE LIFE VALUES & INTER PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS.IT IS MORE THAN A MONTH SINCE I FINISHED THIS NARRATIVE; BUT IT STILL HAUNTS ME.THIS BOOK IS NOT TO BE READ AS A NOVEL BUT SHOULD BE READ AS A NARRATIVE.HEMANT TATTU

Must read
'Where there is a will, there is a way.'The lines Betty's father always used to say her since childhood. Betty Mehmoody, an American woman, was married to Dr. Moody and was tricked into going to Iran by her husband and being kept as hostages with horrible propaganda in mind. Even being a Respected doctor and living in America for 25 years, he led the conspiracy on his wife and four years little daughter. Betty had the chance to escape Iran but without her daughter. Even with a series of domestic violence and many restrictions, she had chosen to leave Iran, Not without my daughter. Using every opportunity and waiting for two years to go America through smuggled ways by her own to get Freedom is the story you must read 🙌

Amazing
An amazing story of courage and determination. It is so well written that her life, the life of the Iranian women, her struggle for freedom all comes to life in front you. Loved the book and finally her freedom was a real celebration. The best part is the beautiful bond between the mother and daughter. a 4 year old is heavenly. The entire book give the readers an edge of the seat experience and makes you wonder "what is coimng next. Kuddos Betty Mahmoody!

Captivating journey of a mother & daughter
Heart touching story. And to think that Betty & Mahtob actually lived thru it all is difficult to even imagine!I loved their journey towards freedom, thru the dark snowy mountains, rivers & Brooks, finally arriving in Turkey. The exhilaration I felt when they reached the American embassy & Mahtob drew an American flag, can't be described. It was as if my own freedom..

Great Book
I watched the movie years ago and loved it. I didn't know that there was a book for it until recently. Love the book! Great read. Betty gives a lot more detail than what the movie provided explaining Mahmoody's family dynamics among other things. Highly recommend.

Poignant
