reliable
Purchased mine refurbished from Amazon June 15, 2017. As of writing this, it is December 14, 2019 and my roomba is still working without any hiccups. I purchased a two year warranty on it through Amazon and never had to use it. I have been pretty vigilant about changing the two brushes out every 1-2 months. I change the side brush out as needed as well as the bin filters. These replacement parts are inexpensive and worth keeping the roomba working properly.Right in the beginning, I thought the side brush module had broken, and roomba sent me a new one. I never replaced it, it just started working again. I learned to take it apart though and pull the hair our of it to keep it running better. Today ... I realized the side brush module actually WAS broken this time. The white pin that holds the brush was unstable and caused the side brush to grind as it went. Since I had a replacement on hand, I went ahead and changed it out (which was super simple). I blew out the insides while the bottom cover was off and changed all my brushes. Put it all back together and it runs like a champ again.I purposely sought out the 770 for it's features. The specific roller brush, the HEPA filters. This was always the one I wanted. The lower models and the higher models did not have all the features that this one had that I wanted. I have had no regrets on my purchase. I would probably consider buying the 770 again, and not a new model should this unit ever take a turn for the worst. Our household consists of one steady inside cat with 2-3 that come in and out. Plus, my husband got a truck dog this year so when she is home she is an inside animals. It blows my mind each time I empty the bin. I am like "all this came from our house?" I am surprised how much junk this picks up and we don't even wear shoes in the house.I will also say ... contacting Roomba, which I think I did twice, was always a pleasure. They were always helpful and kind. What can I say? 2.5 years have gone by and my vacuum still runs like a champ!

After 9 years I’m finally replacing
This baby has worked like a charm for 9 years. I’ve replaced the battery a couple of times but it’s been the most reliable piece of technology I own. I just got my new Roomba today. And let me say I paid under $200 compared to the $400+ I paid originally which was a nice surprise. Hope this new one lasts for 9 years like my last one.

7 years and counting! Go Rosie... Go Rosie!
Rosie was the robotic maid from the Jetsons, my kids named the Roomba Rosie. This is my first Amazon review. Usually I speak up when a product fails. In this case I am really impressed that this vacuum runs 6 days a week in out house for just past 7 years! I wish more electronics were made to last this way. Good job to the engineers at iRobot! Well done. Thanks to Amazon history I can see I've replace dates battery, brushes and recently the side brush motor for $40. but it still works well. I emptied the hopper last night and it was full. Something oddly satisfying about seeing that clear bin full of dirt. I love the way it goes under the couch, dressers, beds, etc. and gets those hiding dust bunnies. Hope you find this helpful.

7 years and counting
I purchased this in 2016 and it’s still going. I still love this product. Run it once a day and it saves so much time cleaning dust and pet hair.Since we got this we don’t have to sweep daily. I love how it gets under my furniture and bed.It won’t completely replace a vacuum but greatly reduces the amount of sweeping and vacuuming you have to do.Replacement parts are easy to find on Amazon and there are plenty of YouTube videos that show you how to install them.

Not as good as brush roller model
The rubber rollers collect partially, but then drop fuzzies along its wake. This model is a lot easier to clean, but the brush rollers did a much better job collecting dirt. I miss my older model.

Far superior to my last Roomba
I previously had the Discovery roomba model (a gift). Liked the idea, but the cleaning of the Roomba was a hassle and it quickly developed problems -- poor battery life and running in circles, probably because of dust clogging sensors. This one has none of those problems even after months. It runs a long time when started. We run it most days before we get up (by programming, an easy process). Empty it periodically. Nothing else to clean really -- much easier than last one. I was hesitant to get one after the first one I had, but a white tile floor on the entry level of our house convinced me otherwise. It does most of its work there, and the result is excellent -- vastly reduces the sweeping I need to do (to pretty much never) and keeps the area looking great.Oh, and while the last one found its cradle only with difficulty when it was done and had to be lifted up and returned by hand, this one ALWAYS gets back on its charger (again, a tile floor) even though the charging/docking station is hidden behind a chair in a corner of the room.Wish it came in white so it didn't stand out so much.

A little work to make house friendly but this symbiotic relationship is well worth it!! A + DEVICE!
I bought this as a Christmas gift to myself. After moving back home and taking care of my aging parents, I was so welcoming a break from constant cleaning. I have been so impressed with this little round machine. Yes you do have to rearrange your house a bit so it can do its job but its not a big deal to not leave socks on floor or shoes with strings loose. There is some minor maintenance, filters, periodic cleaning, new brushes but no bags. Dog loves it! So fun to corner sister in her room when she comes to visit. Banging at her door at 1 am. I make joke but I truly love this little guy. Does a great job and will always have one of these in my home. This one still going on strong after all this time. Nothing but praise for Roomba!

Better than you are
I found that despite the limitations of the basic design the machine consistently did a better job at policing my dog's hair than I did. That alone made the buy worth while. Clean the dirt collector after each use - it isn't big and you may find it necessary to empty in the middle (very dusty, hairy floors) of a cycle. Cutting long hair out of the rollers is a must. And look out for cabinets and such that can trap the machine through wedging under an overhang. It's a tool. Use it right and you'll love it. Ignore its limitations and you'll hate it.

I hate to say "it's changed our lives" because that sounds like marketing crap, but it's changed our lives.
(This is for the 770 model)Wasn't sure about it, never met anyone who had a robot vacuum before so I took a chance on a Black Friday sale. "Life's too short to hang onto all these dollars bills and I hate vacuuming", put those too sentiments together and now here I am, reviewing a robot.Well -short-story- my surprised and initially-hostile-and-skeptical wife fell in love with it and is leaving me for it. :(We were first cautious about all of our cords, but then stopped giving a damn - it doesn't get snagged even if it runs right over them. It devoured an ungodly amount of hair from all the spots we couldn't get with out normal vacuum, in particular underneath things like our bed. It's probably not going to get EVERYTHING, but it gets enough that you'll be quite happy. We'll just sit there and watch it go for hours on end, it's like a weird form of entertainment. Sometimes we'll throw out little unfair challenges like "Hey here's a shoe you didn't expect to all of a sudden work around" but a lot of the time we're surprised at how effective it is at thwarting jackasses like us. It's not perfect, sometimes it gets lost and gives up and sometimes gives up under the bed, but we have the remote control so we can drive it out instead of flopping around like fat fish on the bedroom floor to retrieve it.It also does remarkably well on a couple of shag area rugs that I would have thought would be a bit too deep for it. Honey badger don't care! Black rugs though, it thinks they're a pit of death and avoids. So if you're a morbid goth emo kid and your carpet color of choice is 'midnight' you might as well forget it.Anyway, it's awesome and so nice just pressing a button and watching it do all the dirty work so we can be lazy and spend our time writing reviews.

Disappointed
Overall, i'm pretty disappointed. I had ordered this vacuum while pregnant to save me some housework. Unfortunately the vacuum is so loud you really can't use it while you're at home. When it actually runs properly, it does a good job. But most of the time it's pretty inconsistent. Some times it runs for 1.5 hrs and sometimes it only runs for 20 mins. Sometimes it cleans the floors perfectly and other times it cleans the same spot over and over and misses the messiest spots. Many times i have to run it twice to clean what it missed the first time (not ideal when it's super noisy). If you have young children with lots of toys and furniture, i certainly wouldn't recommend it. If you don't have kids and work outside of the home, this would work great. If you have kids with lots of stuff or if you work/stay at home, i wouldn't waste my money. I will use it now (because i spent over $500 on it), but I certainly wouldn't buy another.

Has a mind of its own
It generally works well but doesn't always clean an area thoroughly before moving on. It always gravitates toward one particular hallway.

I have no idea how we lived without this before ...
I have no idea how we lived without this before. We have a large golden retriever in our 4 level house and this Roomba works hard to keep it clean and it does the job well, even with dog hair.I wish the dirt container was a bit bigger, as he (yes, its a 'he' and we named him) needs to be emptied often if we haven't run him in a while, but still totally worth it.

I couldn't imagine my live without it now :)
Irobot Roomba came within a couple of days right to my door. Item was easy to assemble and operate. I have named him Robbie and he works daily doing vacuuming as I have 4 dogs and I must say I enjoy Robbie doing his thing while I am doing mine. He's not perfect but who is??
