I didn't understand why, but Cpt Pepper and Sgt Mint were brave enough to answer: for the first time in months, I was smiling.Year 0, July 7. 1318 hrsThe reinforcements have arrived. They did not require much time to prepare, five minutes at most, but we would not march until later in the day. Time was still needed to prepare. Security in these promised lands have to be maintained, and negotiations are constantly underway.Your days are numbered, fleas.Year 0, July 7. 1838 hrs.BATTLE ONE: LIVING ROOMThe time has come, and the reinforcements are prepared. Not intending to give the enemy any quarter, we begin our assault. The reinforcements let out a battle cry that surprised even me, and made me fear for my men: a little too enthusiastic, I feared our border neighbors would think we were encroaching on their territory. As loud as they were, though, they were effective—VERY effective. In all my years in service, I have never seen more effective work. They moved hard and fast, pushing against the enemy, until the territory was cleared of their pestilence. Their work was thorough, with a power I've never seen. In a matter of minutes, the territory was as it was before the fleas invaded.For the first time in months, I dared to hope for a brighter future.Year 0, July 7. 1847 hrsBATTLE TWO: BEDROOM+WALKWAYThe reinforcements moved with the same efficacy as they did in the first territory. They show no signs of fatigue, no signs of performance loss—they are still very much cleaning house against the enemy and then some. It is expected, but no less thrilling.Cpt Pepper and Sgt Mint are nowhere to be found. I wager they're just as spooked about their rally cries as I was. I do not blame them.Year 0, July 7. 1853 hrsBATTLE THREE: STAIRWAYThe reinforcements have run into their first roadblock. I am not used to their methods, and though I adapted as well as I could, there was still quite a lot of ground to cover in this terrain. I may have to consider a special task force for this terrain. They've done what they can, and they've done it well.Year 0, July 7. 1917 hrsBATTLE FOUR: OFFICEThe battleground was a mess. There was debris from all the past battles in here. The land was barely recognizable from what it once was. The reinforcements understood the situation, and adapted with aplomb. In a matter of minutes, the terrain was cleared. We reclaimed the land and the corruption was contained.I'm staring over the results of our battle, and I can only dare to have a sliver of hope.Year 0, July 7. 1925 hrsOur forces have retreated back to camp, the reinforcements now working on maintenance and cleaning. Sgt Mint is settled beside me, shaken by the whirlwind she just experienced, but now relaxed. We are discussing tactics with the arrival of our reinforcements now watching out backs. They were effective before, but now they were a force to be reckoned with. Sgt Mint, for the first time since they arrived, understood my newfound optimism.We have won many battles this day... but the war has just begun.

I find the quality of this product excellent. I have used dirt devil vacuums for many years. I’ve always found the vacuums to be of superior quality at a fair price. They are easy to use and reliable.

Initially I really liked this vacuum HOWEVER after experiencing its ever increasing difficulty in use, I feel compelled to update my original review. The very short cord does not have an adequate holder on the vacuum when in use that holds it, hence, I need to continually hold it in my hand, switching hands, shortening the length with my hand while in use and, at other times, letting it out...cumbersome to say the least!Also having to have an additional extension cord so I don't have to move the plug so much because of the short cord is most inconvenient.Then, with my older beloved little Dirt Devil workhorse failing,I found this one on Amazon which seemed to be replacing that one with a slight upgrade....NOT SO! I have to buy different more expensive, bulky and cumbersome and sad excuses for a filter which is definitely not HEPA which is what I had with the last Dirt Devil. It's infuriating to spend more money, get much less in effectiveness and an ineffective and abysmal ability to clean and have still a greater amount of dust accumulating because of the crudeness of the system.At first I appreciated the ability to take the suction and capturing mechanism apart, however, why ever is all the dirt being dispersed throughout the guts of the machine? There was not such need for the old machine as it was all self contained and I could see all the HEPA and easily change it. I found practically no dirt or dust on the new filter or the poor excuse for additional filtering (simple foamy material), however there was much dirt in the tank after vacuuming which is the only saving factor for this ineffective overly complicated and poorly designed vacuum.I am sorry that I bought this and most disappointed in Dirt Devil for this inferior product. I wish they would just stick with the winner that I used to have which was only 3 or 4 years of apartment living.Initial comment end of December 2019: Got this to replace my last Dirt Devil which I loved - it was lightweight, had great suction, hepa filter, easy to maneuver, filters were reasonably priced when on sale and I could reach my whole apartment from one plug in the middle of the one bedroom place. Things were sort of falling apart on it but it was still terrific until the plastic handle split open and I couldn't seem to repair it.So, reviewed the Dirt Devils and this is the one I ended up ordering. Reasonable price, easy to get out of the box, took me a while to figure out which hose was supposed to do what and go where and how to remove the basket which was a little tight but, all in all, I am satisfied. I appreciate the ability to attach the hose to the removable neck of the vacuum to get underneath the heating pipes that run along the walls just above the carpet with one of the attachments and also to the ceilings.One of the wonderful surprises, once I figured it out, was that I can take the whole basket and internal parts apart and easily wash them. I was most surprised to see the amount of dirt that was picked up that I couldn't see in the basket, but caught in some of the nooks and crannies that I was able to wash out.One shortcoming: the power cord does not seem to have a comfortable place to hold it (other than midway up the pole which pops out easily) and it's easiest to hold onto it which is cumbersome especially when I drop it and have to continually bend over to pick it up - gets harder being 74 and arthritic!Absolutely wonderful but REALLY? How much do they save by shortening the cord 8-9 feet????

All my floors are linoleum. I have a few rugs on the floor. I love that I can vacuum on the linoleum then roll on over the rugs without having to stop and adjust anything. It’s easy to clean and has a long cord. I use it in my home and auto.
