The Best Kitchen Appliance I have Ever Bought
I've had this B+D air fryer for a month, and you'll pry it out of my cold, dead hands. I wasn't sure I'd use one enough, and thought about it for a long time. I have a Samsung Convection/Microwave oven that has a SlimFry feature that mimics air frying. That works well, but there are only presets and only four of those and I wanted to do more. The B+D isn't digital, the timer doesn't pause when you remove the basket to turn food or to shake it, and so far as I know, accessories for 2-qt air fryers don't exist, but the aayu baking pan will definitely fit it, and is a great addition. I've ordered a 2nd aayu pan in fact (available on Amazon.) I'm happy with my B+D and a 2-qt is the right size for me.I am using it more and more, even for just heating leftovers, and it does a great job with those; better than the microwave. Last night, I put an entree and a side in and topped it with the top half of a homemade hamburger bun, (cut side up), and gave it 10 minutes after I'd preheated it to 300 degrees. Everything was perfect, and that was very appreciated since I am down with my yearly URI at the moment. Cleanup is minimal and I've only had to soak the basket once, and that only took 10 minutes, and everything then came off with a sponge.I've made roasted bananas, Scalloped Rutabaga, Pork Chunks slightly breaded with Shake 'n Bake, or with panko, Scotch Eggs, Toasted Ravioli, Minted Lamb Burgers, Veggie Burgers, Air-Fried Portabellas, and everything has turned out great. I have had the occasional failure, but sometimes, that's due to the cookbook I've used.I've had trouble finding good cookbooks written by Americans, with American food in them. I can recommend "my Black+Decker 2-Liter Oil Free Air Fryer Cookbook" by Sandy Fairfield. It has a nice range of recipes, and they are written clearly. It doesn't have pictures, except on the front and back covers (color) and black and white ones at the beginning of each chapter. This is not available in a Kindle edition, but is a paperback. Amazon carries it.I'd also highly recommend "The Air Fryer Bible" by Susan Laborde and Elizabeth Hickman. They are two Southern girls, and their recipes are varied, clearly written, with ingredients we have and are familiar with, and for food that we will eat. This is an Amazon Kindle edition that I pre-ordered for myself for Christmas, and it was worth it.I can very highly recommend the B+D Purifry 2-Liter Air Fryer. There are a lot of foods that I like that I don't cook because I have a black thumb when it comes to deep frying, and I always use a thermometer. Now I can make these things and save calories, fat, straining and keeping used oil, or disposing of it properly, I don't have to clean the stove, and best of all, I don't get popped by hot grease, my glasses aren't covered with grease spots, and the kitchen doesn't smell of fried foods for days.

There is magic on my counter now!!!!
I'm not a big reviewer (even though I should be since I order absurd amounts of stuff on here) but this item calls for an exception. I debated over getting an air fryer since that infomercial came out years ago. Finally, after reading & watching countless reviews I broke down and ordered this one. I can't tell you how amazed I am. In less than 2 weeks we've cooked 3 flavors of homeade wings, fries (regular & sweet pot.), chips, herb roasted potatoes, salt & vinegar Hassleback potatoes, homemade eggrolls, ribeye steaks, rainbow trout, turbot, burgers, plantains, buffalo cauliflower bites and probably a few more things I've forgotten. And thats the stuff from scratch. My son has made a vareity of frozen snacks & hot dogs that have came out great too. We cook so much in it we ordered a 2nd one after a week so we could cook our protein and side dish at the same time. Everything is crispy and delicious with almost no fat. I can't believe I've waited so long. I've told so many people about this and my friends are ordering it left and right (B&D, I'm ok with any endorsement kickbacks you'd like to extend to me!).Sidenote: I followed the advice of a previous reviewer and ran the machine at the highest temp for 40 to 60 minutes when I first got them to burn off the chemical smell. I've never had anything smell or taste chemically so I guess it worked.16 month update: Both are still going strong with almost daily use. Non-stick coating is still holding up fine. The only issue is one of the handles no longer locks into the base so we have to support it from underneath with a potholder.

So much better than expected
I bought this for my husband, for his birthday. He'd wanted one for a long time, and I kept telling him no. It's too big. It'll take up too much space. There's no room for it. Where will we put it? Etc.etc.blahblahblah. I figured it would be one of those gadgets that gets used once and then lost in obscurity, like the mini-pie maker (ahem). Anyway, I went on an organizing spree. I hung all the pot lids. I stored the baking dishes and cookie sheets, etc. in a horizontal rack. I stacked the pots on a shelf, and I freed up TWO cabinets in the process, so I ordered him the fryer. It's not like he doesn't indulge my odd whims. So we've had the air fryer for the last eight days. In that time we've made buttermilk fried chicken, fresh French fries, donuts, fried tofu (omg a thing of magic - this is SO good), sweet potato fries, inside out burgers, and "roasted" chick peas. It takes 90 minutes to do that in the oven, and maybe a quarter cup of oil. It took 20 minutes in the air fryer, and I used 1/2 tablespoon of oil. I've also used it to heat straight from the freezer nuggets and frozen fries for the kids. AND? It heats up left overs beautifully - no more soggy microwave left overs or waiting for 30 minutes from the toaster oven left overs.I've got a list a mile long of recipes I want to try. This was such a good buy, and I'm so surprised by how much I love this thing!
