light, light duty bookcase
This is minimum possible bookcase. The packaging was good and arrived without damage. There is extra corner protection cardboards inside and the box is heavy duty thick cardboard. The case: all boards are 5/8" mdf and probably not for books. Even 3/4" mdf is not really for books, however. The shelf clip holes are for 3 adjustable shelves only-there are 5 holes for each level but not really able to add my own shelf. I was planning to add shelves for very small art supply stuff. I'd have to drill my own.Corners take 2 screws and the screw head is covered with plastic pieces. These covers need a little caulk to hold in place. By themselves, they will soon start to disappear. The screw corners may need some reinforcement. Depends on how gentle you use these case.Backing is 1/16" paper, white painted. I plan to use little wood glue and eletric stapler. The 3/4" included nails are just useless in holding the case square and giving the shelves support. The bottom toekick is held with screws but screws are too short - barely going 1/4" into the bottom shelf. One kick or bump with vacuum, it will get pushed in. If planning to store heavy things on the bottom, the back of the shelf will need some support. The backing paper will tear. For $40, this case is really a good deal. The material will cost more for me to build my own. But this case will not survive house move and possibly heavy items (books, papers). Plan to throw this away if moving. Again, still a good deal.I am handy and have some scrap wood and nailers to reinforce this case.

Only three stars for the first one in the set, otherwise one star.
Shipping was really fast, literally the day I got the notification it had shipped it was delivered. The first bookcase in the set was fine, easy to put together, nothing was wrong with it. The second one, however, had a crack in the side panel, one of the screw holes ended up gouging through the "wood" (so the screw hole had to be redone), and I couldn't use one of the pegs for the shelves because it was completely misshapen. Luckily I had spares from another bookcase I could use, but how does something like that pass quality control? A crack in the panel I could see because that can happen in transit. But parts being made completely wrong and shipped out with a product? They feel kind of flimsy too even anchored. There is also the fact that the email delivery notification says that my bookcases were shipped from Walmart.com, which I absolutely didn't order from (obviously), which is a red flag for me.Ameriwood is supposed to be a good brand, I've had two of their bookcases in previous years and they were absolutely lovely. But I guess like everything else, things are being made by cutting corners and using cheap materials. My old bookcases were absolutely solid. These new ones aren't even when attached to the wall. They do get the job done, however. Next time I think I will get Sauder (again) or something else.

but they are also very cheaply priced and easy to put together
These are very cheap, and show it, but they are also very cheaply priced and easy to put together. I ordered 2 sets, so 4 shelves total, and it took me about an hour and a half with a drill to put them all together. My biggest complaint is about the plastic covers for the screw holes. They are not only very difficult to put on properly, but they're also very, very dirty...nowhere near white. Even after cleaning them, they aren't white. This was the case in all 4 shelves. I do like that 3 of the shelves in each unit are adjustable, but I don't like that the peg holes are so obvious. Fortunately, these are for my studio where visitors will be rare. I would not have these in a public area in my house.

They are esthetically pleasing, but NOT sturdy. Fairly easy to put together (took me about 30-45 mins per bookshelf using just what came in the box and no power tools). I would highly suggest securing them to the wall. They function as part of a "built in" look for my office, flanking my desk on either side. They finished the room nicely and seem more stable after loading them up with book and decor, but i will still secure them to the wall eventually for safety since I have a curious kitty. For the price, I think they were a good deal!

100% sturdy and reliable
I’ve had these shelves for a little less than a year now, and as someone who was nervous to purchase online, I felt compelled to write a review so that I could say how completely satisfied I am. I’m not particularly handy, but built these shelves myself, and they’ve held up wonderfully under the weight of A LOT of books. Reviews for other similar products showed shelves collapsing and entire units falling apart, but these shelves have proven reliable and sturdy. I definitely recommend them.

The bookshelves are a little flimsy, but that is to be expected for the price. My husband and I bought them to show off our collectables and it works perfectly for that. The wall mounting bracket to stabilize the book shelf was a pain to put in and we eventually gave up. Thankfully non of the items on the shelves are glass otherwise I would more concerned!

DID THE JOB !
Was looking for something to put in the closet for storage . Was going to purchase from ikea until I came across these. They are perfect but one of the pieces came broken. I just put a little wood glue on it and it looks perfect. Need to be a little more careful with delivery .

Cheap and not sturdy great for dvds though
These worked exactly where I needed them. They were smaller than I expected of most 5 shelf bookshelves. My husband wasn't too pleased how cheap they were though. They didn't even finish the top so if you are putting them where you can see the top find a different bookshelf! They worked for all my video games and dvds in my game room so I'm not displeased. But when we go to buy bookshelves for my husbands office these wouldn't make the cut. I don't think they can handle heavy books or anything just seem cheap.
