Love it, almost
Nice scope with great clarity and ease of focus. My only complaint is the eyepiece relief. It’s very hard to get your eye centered and not see black around the edges.

Broken Eyepiece
Believe scope was damaged before shipping. Hard case was missing latch and eye piece was broken off of scope. Will update when new scope arrives.

What A Surprise!
This old bird still has some of the original low power hunting scopes made by Simmons back in the day. I always wondered why my Dad had a 4X Leupold scope on his .22 while I had a Simmons 4X. Although the Simmons did an acceptable job, it was in no way comparable to the Leupold. Of course my Dad's .22 rimfire rifle was also far superior to the Sears model that he bought for me. But believe me, I was just thrilled at age 10 to be able to go squirrel hunting. And since I trained all winter at the local armory, I could hold my own against him.But enough of the old days. Simmons then was considered a fairly mediocre manufacturer. Now Simmons is a brand owned by Bushnell Corporation (acquired by them in 2008) which in turn is owned by Vista Outdoor. Competition in the optics market and great strides made in this technology has resulted in current offerings superior in quality and also very reasonably priced. That is an example of "value engineering" at its finest. This Simmons spotting scope was shipped in a hard case and had the scope itself also wrapped in plastic and inside a separate soft case. Well protected indeed! A bench sized tripod is also included as are directions for both locating the instruction manual and for registering the product for potential warranty coverage. Fear not for the instruction sheet is offered in five languages.Being an older guy and not a hunter, I don't have to worry about lugging this rather large scope through the bushes. However it does serve two needs for me. The first is that it is extremely useful when testing .22 ammo at a 100 yard range. These old eyes are not what they used to be and this Simmons scope makes it simple to track and score my shots. Most of my shooting is suppressed and testing various subsonic ammo has been interesting to say the least.Since we live on beautiful Charlotte Harbor in Southwest Florida, Mother Nature offers us constant reminders of how the animal kingdom functions and survives. Being able to focus on long distances off our back lanai has really increased our visual reach even to the far shore. We are able to watch Bald Eagles and Osprey fish, Red Tailed Hawks and Florida Barred Owls home in on their prey, and alligators and manatees cruise through the harbor. Entertaining for us and our guests. For roughly $150.00 this is a heck of a deal for the quality you receive. Simmons has worked its way back into being competitive with most of the mainstream firms. If you're looking for a big increase in quality, plan on spending a lot more money. In the old days we would call this "the law of diminishing returns". That means that you have to spend a lot more money just to get an incremental return in actual performance. Simmons proves that you don't have to spend that much.
