Emerson SmartSet Alarm Clock Radio CKS1708 (Renewed)

Someone said it was easy to set up & it was sort of. I had to change the timezone & then I had to set up the alarms. It says that if you see M-Sun it is set for 7 days? Well the M-F is in Blue & the Sat-Sun in red so I wasn't sure it was set right. But this morning I could verify. Yes! I like the Bright blue LED! I love that when the radio turns on its lower & gradually gets louder instead of blasting in my ears like my other clock. It even came with a replacement battery. So I'm very happy with it. My other clock was so dim I couldn't see it in the day & it was broke so I couldn't get it to be bright. This clock is nice & bright. Radio works good & once you get it set up you are good to go! I love it.

I don't understand what the engineers of this clock were thinking.. where do I begin, the clock is way too brite, even the dimmer function doesn't dim enough.... to set the alarm is a nightmare... not easy at all, no easy way to chang the alarm let's say from 6:30 am to 7:00 am. you have to go full realm through the 24 hour cycle to change it.... it will not allow you to change the alarm time in one hour increments... to turn the alarm on is no easy task either.. i went to turn alarm on the other day and i ended up inadvertently turning on the radio waking up my wife, i had to turn on the side lamp, put my readers on in an attempt to turn dam radio off... i literally got fed up and unplugged the clock from the outlet..... shame on emerson.... the next day i went and purchased a 10-dollar sharp alarm clock that's simple to operate... never again will i buy an emerson smart set. oh, and that's another thing, the so called smart set is not so smart.. whenever i plug clock into the wall, the time is 3 to 4 minutes behind the actual time....... what a piece of junk.....i ended up throwing it away..

The clock didn’t work

The only problems I have had were that it came with preset alarms that surprised me the next morning and that sometimes it doesn't seem to be able to hold a station well. I have to keep moving the power cord over or next to it to hear properly without a bunch of static.

Refurbished, well packed, complete with manual. Started it up. Noticed it was set to zone 2 and I am in zone 5. Changed it and quickly realized that there are only 7 choices, not 24. Manual indicated that the numbers are not the same as standard time zones. 2 is the Eastern time zone. After that, the set up went well - I actually referred to the manual several times and within twenty minutes was satisfied that everything was fine. All display indications and buttons worked. Nice clock, with three brightness settings. Unplugged it, and then restored power and everything was ok. Worked well.

The clock works as stated with just one glaring issue. The alarms just aren't loud enough, making it relatively useless as alarm clock.

Both the clock and the alarm work fine. The alarm begins with a medium loud beep and gets progressively louder. You won't sleep through this alarm. I had to set the time the first time I used it; however, it now sets the time correctly every timeI plug it in.

The price was cheap, so I will throw it away instead of returning it. But, I bought it specifically for the auto-set funcionn--the ability to just plug it in and the clock determine the correct time. It just doesn't do that. Not sure if this is what you get for buying refurbished or if the product description was wrong to begin with.If you are buying primarily for the auto-set function, find a better product. But, other than that, it is an attractive clock. I just hope it keeps accurate time after I set it. We will see, but I'm not holding my breath.
