Great for priming custom figures!
IMAGES: My second attempt compared to my first attempt at painting a hair piece for my custom Nendoroid figure. In the first attempt, you can see how uneven and clumpy it looks, as well as the tiny cracks that appeared in the acrylic paint once it had dried. Technique makes all the difference when working with products like this! Both were painted with the same acrylic, watered down to the same consistency, and applied with the same brush strokes, yet they look vastly different just because of the primer layer beneath. I used the same primer in both attempts.I used this to prime my custom Nendoroid figures' hair pieces. It is very thin, which is actually preferable for this type of painting. I only needed a single coat, which dried very quickly and left a nice chalky texture for painting over with watered-down acrylic.DO NOT GLOB THIS STUFF ON, particularly if you're working with a model or figure. I made that mistake with my first figure, thinking that it should be much thicker than it is. My thought was that a thicker gesso = a smoother surface for painting, and I was very wrong in this case. I ended up with uneven clumps of primer that became wet again when they were covered over with paint, and became bubbled and cracked. My second attempt, using very short, even strokes to create a thin single layer, turned out MUCH better. The acrylic paint went over it nicely and produced a perfectly smooth finish.Concerning art supplies, it's often the technique more than the quality of the product that determines your results. This was a nice price, and when used properly, yielded wonderful results. I have included two images, one of my first attempt, one of my second attempt, to highlight the importance of technique and priming in model painting.

My absolute favorite gesso
This is my favorite gesso. I'm so sad that it doesn't seem to be available now. I use it as my mixing white!! I ran out of my usual mixing white, decided to try this gesso, and it instantly became my "go to" for both priming and mixing. I'm lost now as to what to buy.

Good to have
This gesso is pretty decent. I've used it on a plain canvas as a primer and only use have to use one coat before I start my paintings and I've also used it to cover up paintings and then paint a new picture. When I have to cover up old paintings it takes at least 3 coats especially if I have to cover dark colors, depending on the lighter colors it can only take 2 coats. It's fast drying if using on a blank canvas but if you have to use it to cover up it does take a bit to fully dry around 30min or so depending on how much you have to use. For the price it does the job, I would recommend it.

Primer gesso works great
This first one I got the lid was not on tight and the inner seal was broken. Not a seller issue this was a manufacture problem. What saved me getting it all over me was the fact the manufacturer put it in a sealed bag. Or it would have been all over me. Contacted the seller and they had a new one out the same day. Which surprised me, I was expecting to have to go back and forth with them. I had a great experience with the seller. The manufacture needs to do a better quality check before sending out. The product is the best. I love the texture, how it covers up mistakes or products I need to repurpose. And how it makes it easier to paint with acrylics. I have used it on new wood, old wood, wood that has stains on it, metal, concrete, brick, stones and plastic with no issues. Will buy product again an$ bu6 from seller again.

Can't beat THE PRICE
This was my first time buying this brand as my usual brand has gone up in price. I usually paint on wooden boards so priming is necessary. Although thinner than I am used to, this did the job. It goes on easy and dries smooth. You may need a second application but works fine.

Broken bottle
My cap was broken 💔 but I didn't want to deal with sending it back so I just used what I could. It wasn't great. Pretty thin and took a lot of coats which didn't seem to really cover great. 😕 maybe it needed a shake? But I couldn't shake it cause it was broken.

Perfect for my needs!
Ok, so I am someone who paints for fun and I've gone to several of those have drinks and paint things and have a TON of canvases that I will never hang up. This leads me to recycling those canvases! Great idea! I looked up best ideas for recycling and this came up as an option. I tried painting my canvas white and it worked but was a lot of work and used a lot of white paint that I can't spare. I tried this and it worked perfectly! I was able ti reuse my canvas and my artwork turned out lovely!
