During my Bachelors, I remember my professor claiming that what if we could record an electrocardiogram to check the heart of Macbeth, its rhythms and pulsations and the electrical turbulence in his mind. Trapped in the triviality of everyday existence, Macbeth reaches out beyond the perimeter of the stage, grapples with the reader beyond the confines of the page and looks them in the eye and recognises the sigh of our exhausted eyelids. Macbeth is about the silent quivering of the heart that understands the impending doom – the atopical wretchedness of unaccommodating man. The stately crown is not large enough to fit upon his head. The crown sprouts from the head of Macbeth. Like Coriolanus, Macbeth’s world is elsewhere.Macbeth is beyond appreciation. Any kind of eulogistic remark will fall short in evaluating the intensity of the text. No matter how many times I read, it cripples me into a disreality of non-utterance – atopical (cf. Barthes), ineffable. Is it a play? Is it a fiction? Is it fantasy? To me, Macbeth is poetry shooting beyond the premises of ordinary sensibility. The reading is in itself a performance. It is about love and limerence and the experience of being.Macbeth is being written today. Macbeth will be written tomorrow.P.S: Too much is the sadness and too little are our hearts to contain it. The burst is all that there is. Every time I read, I listen to Tagore’s music and I imagine Macbeth with cupped hands, gently caressing the cheeks of Lady Macbeth. To me, Macbeth is a lover wrestling with the subtleties of love departed.

The book itself is very good....Don't know what else to say... It's a book...But the packaging is not up to the mark...My book got a lil crumpled in the package...

This Arden Shakespeare edition contains much more informations about the contemporary things, criticism, and Of course the TEXT. If you want to read Macbeth, just go for it.

It's quite informative about the background of the play. It contains the whole original text and to understand the meaning of Shakespearean words, the footnotes are helpful.
