Mendota Pet Skid Plate - Dog Harness - Made in The USA - Small

This is the second one I've purchased for my beagles. It seems to fit just right on the underside. My dogs can pee without any obstruction (so no vest wet with pee). My first beagle wore his vest upland hunting last year and no damage of any kind. I think that's pretty good because upstate New York has alot of rough terrain. If you are really worried about visibility, I would get something to go on the dog's back (if your dog is the size of a beagle).

Did more harm than good. My Britany's front legs were rubbed raw underneath where the straps come through. I now have to wait for her to heal up before I can get her out hunting again which will take a week or longer. This was a waste for me of $51.

I bought this mainly for visibility because my dog is a hunting dog. The vest has lots of adjustment and is very robust. Material over the chest is really tough feeling and the straps are plenty thick. The only problem is they do say it helps with visibility but it barely comes up her sides any. I will probably keep the vest and have some visibility stuff added.

When it comes between the front legs it is two narrow to protect the front of the chest. It widens out considerably on the stomach. I am trying to figure out how to add material to the narrow spot.

I have a vizsla who gets cut up every time she is out working in the field. This skid plate was recommended to me, and it did well. After a few minutes of her getting used to it, she took off and never looked back. Didn't hinder her movements or anything, but did a great job of protecting her belly and chest. Her hind knees still came out all red and cut up but that has nothing to do with the skid plate! This worked quite well. My vizsla is 20 inches at the shoulder and weighs 37 pounds, and I got a small. It fit perfectly.

I returned this. I was looking for something for my dachshund, he gets pretty beat up (they have really low-to-the-ground chests) but even the smallest size was way too large for him.

I was very excited for this product but it was not very wide for my GSP covering maybe half of his chest. This rubbed his chest raw and didn't do it's purchase.

I got my 32 pound Boykin Avery Neo vest in XS and fit her perfectly with just minor cutting. It's to hot for field hunting and times I've used it for field work, it got some minor rips. I purchased a couple over the back field vests and nothing came close to fitting. This Small Skid Plate fits perfectly and she loves wearing it. It does not bind anywhere and covers her chest and neck area well. Also will work for a car seat belt when needed. Thanks Mendota!
