Well Constructed, Easy to Assemble!
After trading in my Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and inheriting my wife's Toyota 4Runner after getting her a new car, I was faced with the problem of how was I going to haul trash, yard waste and yard maintenance equipment with the 4Runner since I no longer owned a truck. There was no way I was going to dirty and stink up my wife's beloved 4Runner. The solution was to utilize the tow hitch on the 4Runner. I researched all different types of hitch carriers but finally settled on the MaxxHaul 70103 Hitch Mount Steel Folding Cargo Carrier. It had a reasonable price point, the dimensions seemed perfect and I liked that it folded up. I was stoked that Amazon Prime shipped it free to Hawaii (Hawaii often gets treated like a foreign country when it comes to shipping). The hitch carrier was shipped promptly and when I received it, the item was in great shape. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it was packed and care taken to protect the paint finish. The hitch carrier is well constructed - steel - the welds looked solid. Instructions were easy to follow and the hitch carrier itself was easy to assemble. Installation on the tow hitch was made easier with the help of another person to lift the carrier and hold it steady to align the holes to allow the hitch pin to go through. There was not much "play" on the carrier once installed, but I installed a hitch stabilizer anyway. All in all, a great product I would recommend to anyone looking to expand the cargo carrying capacity of their vehicle.

Handy for traveling and sturdy
I bought this carrier for a trip that would take about 16 hours one way. I was nervous about traveling that far with suitcases on the carrier. We strapped them down and it worked well. It was easy to assemble and seemed sturdy. As others recommended a hitch tightener. I imagine it would have been noisy otherwise. I liked having the higher sides on the carrier that was one of the big reasons I decided on this one. It made securing the suitcases easy.Others had said that the carrier would drag or bottom out. I had it on a 2014 GMC Acadia and had no issues with it bottoming out or dragging.I would recommend this product for some extra space while travelling.

Quality product
Worked great on our 2016 Kia Sorento for a 3400 mile trip. I highly recommend getting an "S" shape attachment hitch to get it off the ground more. We scraped the bottom many times when merging from a slanted parking lot to the road. This caused the cap that plugs the hole to come off right away, and we lost it. Also, this is ground shipped, and the package was scraped open. We lost bolts to this. We were leaving for our trip and had to run to the hardware store for replacements. It all worked out, but I wish the shipping was better. We bought the hitch clamp to keep it tight from the recommendations. It worked well, no rattling. I wish it had a shield for the exhaust though. We bought a $40 waterproof tarp to cover our luggage before bungeeing it down. The exhaust melted the tarp a little. The product seems to be built nice! It has a pin to secure it in the hitch, and a pin to secure the top in the up and down position.

Assembled easy. works good.
Pretty easy to assemble. Ill be honest when i first opened the box the bag that the screws were in was ripped so all the washers, nuts, bolts, etc. Were not secured and had been flying around the box while being shipped. Also there were 4 cut zipties in the box which tells me someone else already had opened it at some point.I was expecting to have lost parts BUT i did not have any parts lost actually i had extra washers. The nuts are lock nuts which i love because i usually swap out standard nuts for lock nuts on items like this.Over all its good sturdy construction it seems like and it has a gap big enough to squeeze in between the rear of the vehicle and the frame of the platform.

It Worked
So far, I only used it once to take my giant paddleboard to the lake. I did get an anti-rattle hitch accessory, which is a must have. The gear probably weighed 100 pounds. The instructions were trash. Reading through it was not enough and I had to look at the pictures online to put it together. It was easy.

Poorly packaged and pieces missing.
Poorly packaged. My package arrived damaged and the nuts and bolts were loose and some are missing. The zip ties were cut or broken. You get what you pay for. You buy cheap Chinese garbage and you get cheap Chinese garbage. Don't bother with this one.

Good for the price.
This item is what is to be expected. It is made in China (I am getting so sick of Chinese product quality), which means a few of the holes for the bolts do not line-up. (Warning: If you are not capable of working/correcting the problems like holes not lining up, then you may need help putting this together.)The hitch mount is sloppy, causing the carrier to droop severely, and lean backward away from the vehicle. Not good at all. Virtually unusable. In addition, I quit using the part that allows the carrier to fold upward because of the excessive slack in it.I bought a 6.5" hitch riser to raise the carrier up higher from the hitch's level.I had to add two hitch tighteners to stop the rattle and to help remove some sagging, swaying and bouncing around - which costs and additional $20 - $30.Having said all of this, I am afraid this is what you get for this price range from any company's product.Only the highly expensive brands ($500-$2,000 carriers) are likely to be the quality I would like to have, but I am not paying that much for a carrier. So, this carrier is a product of China and has all of the lack of quality China products are known for. Just buy it knowing that is what you are getting.
