I'm not a huge fan of this product. I love the idea, but the product I received was not executed well. The width of the velcro is nice, but the outside edges of the velcro strips are thin and hard making the edges feel sharp. I suppose the edges being sharp is neither here nor there, because the collar does not get tight enough to muffle crowing. We have a 6 month old EasterEgger Rooster and this collar at its tightest still has enough room to fit my average sized lady thumb, that's definitely enough room between the collar and the rooster to allow him maximum crow capacity. I bought this product hoping that we wouldn't have to make one of our own, but I suppose I'll still have to pinterest the idea and make this myself.🤷‍♀️

After a few days the collars were adjusted a little smaller and I would listen to the sound of the crow eventually I got them down to a ER chortle about %85 reduction . The Dark Brahmas are still babies and will mature at 18 months so I will monitor the fit regularly . still way better than %100 . Do not chock your rooster right off the bat take some time and things will work out ... Big ED

I tried to modify this to fit my small rooster because we live in city limits. We are not supposed to keep roosters but we love him. Needless to say we tried the crow collar making adjustments so we could use it on a smaller bird. He was not having it. We watched for a period of time and then thought it would be, ok. I checked on him again and he managed to get hid lower beak under it and choked himself out. Luckily, he will be fine. All I can say is its not the sellers fault the collar was too big. Be very very careful you watch the bird to make sure they don't kill themselves getting out of the collar.

Does not work. Unless you want to choke your rooster to death.

Update: We quit using this after around a month after it caused an injury on my roo. We even checked it often for irritation, made sure his feathers weren’t unevenly separated, and took it off to give him breaks until one day he had a small gash on one side of his neck underneath the collar near the feather separation line. We removed from our poor guy immediately and have not had any injuries since.If you don’t want or can’t have rooster crows; either don’t keep a rooster or find a SAFE alternative.Original review: Honestly, I just bought these because I wanted to see if no crow collars actually worked before spending money on a good quality padded one since we intend to leave it on most of the time. The first time putting it on, it just made his crow sound a little grumbly. After researching the collars further, it was suggested to place higher rather than lower, and leave barely an adult pinky width gap, much like you would use 2 fingers for a dog collar. Tighten slowly as needed, watch behavior in between for breathing issues. The second go around is working great. His crow is much quieter and hopefully my neighbors will be relieved. I would suggest using a second pair of hands to really help you separate the feathers comfortably and get it to the right spot. Like I said, it takes some adjusting to find the sweet spot on your rooster but it does work. I have a larger rooster, I would not suggest this for someone with a smaller breed, as I actually had to wrap the Velcro twice. You’d honestly be better off making your own with some comfortable padding.

I feel compelled to begin by saying I have 2 roosters and I did read the small selection of reviews. I have decided to review this product since there's little in the way of assisting others in determining if this is a product they should purchase for their needs.Though I do not suffer with neighbors ired of crowing roosters, I do find myself to be the one longing for peace when I relax on my own porch.Each day, I plan their murders, particularly of the one I have now named "Dinner". Dinner is a nuisance and though I might see some cruelty in harming any creature, I do see this as a feasible option, particularly if I find myself in some need to survive a scenario where I'm unable to find food in a grocery store. For the time being, I've decided that Dinner should remain alive and hoped for a better alternative than an axe because I do see some benefit to Dinner surviving (for now). Dinner, I fear, is not just a rooster but a donkey of the worst kind. While I sit on the back porch hoping for some solace in my day, he takes it upon himself to run up to the edge and holler as loud as his rooster lungs allow. At this point, I'm almost positive he's quite aware of how it unnerves me and thus he does so with pure deliberation to make me insanely annoyed. It matters not if I opt to move. Dinner will find wherever it is I may be and continue the inane battle cries, for I'm surely convinced it's war he's waging upon me.Oh, how I have such a disdain for this horrid creature! All the while, in my mind, I'm planning his demise since he'll surely be the first to end up on my stove should the need arise. I have already carefully selected the recipe I'll use for chicken and dumplings.Now, all that said, I have received these cock rings yesterday in hopes to choke this chicken and silence his incessant squawks without ending his little life needlessly when there's still a benefit of his assistance in the aiding of chicken husbandry, as he's proven himself a worthy sire in this regard.There came 4 rings and despite suggestions these do not work, I endeavored to at least give them a go. They came in 4 colors so I can, at the very least, color code my roosters. For Dinner, I chose red since it's the color I see when he comes about to make his manly declarations in my direction.I knew catching him would be a feat but managed to do so with very little incident. He was quite dismayed at his capture and did not appreciate it one bit. So, in this moment, I admit I took advantage and decimated his morale by holding him gently and petting his silky feathers. The ring was a bit big but I managed to pull it snug, making sure I didn't block his ability to breathe. I folded the band in such a manner to remain secure.As of this morning, he resolve is undeterred and he still crows with all of his might and with such a bellow that shows his admirable sense of fortitude in never giving up hope in the face of adversity.In spite of the failure of this product to do as I hoped, I do see they're well made and will stay put. I have learned from this rooster that we must not let our enemies defeat us, so I will catch him and make it more snug and adjust it. For this is a mere battle of wills and sheer determination. I suppose I'll figure out if it's entirely too snug when he passes out. If he shall be the victor, I will concede defeat and perhaps let him serve as a reminder to carry on in my own adversities in life.

My rooster crows a lot and we have a few neighbors that love him and one that is a douche and called animal control. Tried these collars several different ways. No instructions came with these, went by the photo. Does not stay, ends up under feathers and he still crows. Tried tighter then looser. Even different different places on his neck. Didn’t work. We just bring him inside every night. That seems to work.
