My Samsung TV is just over a decade old now. It still performs to my expectations, except for no longer being able to update the built-in Netflix app, which has been highly annoying but far from sufficient reason for junking the whole TV. Unfortunately, the remote control unit has not fared quite so well, with individual buttons gradually losing functionality over the past three or four years. When it became a major battle to change channels to anything with a "4" in it, or to bring up the "Switch Source" screen, I knew I HAD to either replace the remote or give up on the whole TV.Big problem: the official Samsung Parts website was demanding $55.95 for an equally official remote. Ridiculous. In fact, a decent down payment on an entire replacement TV of similar size and capabilities. Preferably from a different manufacturer, if the built-in obsolescence route is the way Samsung really wants to play things. This off-brand remote, OTOH, was offered at a quarter of the Samsung price, and therein lies its greatest attraction.Yes, it is not only less expensive but also flat-out cheaper. It's lighter-weight than the Samsung-branded remote, and has rougher edges. Also, it didn't even come with batteries included. Its main drawback, however - and, for me, this IS significant - is that the ONLY buttons that light up in the dark (a nasty, baleful red) are the two that NOBODY needs to have lights for because they are completely obvious by touch: "volume +/-" and "channel +/-." For those of us who enjoy watching TV in complete or near dark conditions, this is useless. I do miss the fully backlit official remote when I'm running dark.On the, um, bright side, all other buttons that I need on a daily basis are once again fully functional, including - for those of us who also still maintain now-vintage DVD collections - the ability to use the single remote to perform basic DVD-watching functions on any brand of player that can match "smart technology" with a Samsung TV. Not having to wage all-out warfare against my remote just to change channels or switch source feeds is bliss.Have I thoroughly tested every single button on my replacement remote? No. There were several buttons I rarely ever used on the original - which still works EXCEPT for four or five of the heaviest-used buttons; I figure I'll just keep it around. If I ever again need to do something that the replacement refuses to do for me, I can grab the old one. And if the cheap replacement dies in a year - eh, the TV itself could be gone by then, or I could simply get another cheap replacement and STILL be paying less than what Samsung has been demanding.Better for my budget, better for the environment, better for my blood pressure. Working with a 10-year-old TV, this off-brand replacement's price really was everything for me.

Samsung TV Remote control started not working properly. While watching TV, it would periodically act like a button was being pushed or was stuck and become unusable. I already had this remote control for another Samsung TV that I would use for both TVs. I liked this one better than the original controller. So, I purchased this new one. The new one works flawlessly. Very pleased with my selection.

I like that all I had to do was install 2 tripple A batteries and it worked like a charm!
