The key that has gotten 100% of the "in use" time on my 981 Boxster S was looking fairly worn, so I decided to pull the trigger on this shell replacement. Reviews on this one were mostly very positive, so I thought I had nothing to lose....As (almost) always, my Prime order arrived within two days. Following the directions from another reviewer, (Thank you, btw!) I replaced the two side pieces in under 5 minutes. What a huge difference this makes to really "jazz up" the look of the key.Quality + fitment are both top-notch!Given how much Porsche charges for the real thing, this is a no-brainer purchase for anyone except die-hard purists. Would recommend this to anyone looking to freshen up their Porsche keys!

Took just a few minutes to install after I found the right "how-to" video on YouTube. Snapped firmly into place -- no worries about the sides falling off. Looks much better than original matt black. I'd say this plastic is slightly wimpier than the original, but still plenty strong.

Of course it doesn't look like real carbon fiber if you look closely but I think it makes my GT4 key look less boring than the standard black inserts. Very durable as well

One of the clips broke and now one side doesn’t stay in place. Looks good but not worth it if it is this fragile.

I have to laugh at myself because when I purchased this I thought that it did not fit, and started a return of the item. However that was just me being a dummy thinking that the item was to snap to the key as it was lol. The side pieces of the original key pop off and THEN you can install these. Now that I have it installed it looks great and really transformed my already cool looking Porsche key into an amazing looking Porsche key! Snug tight fit. Looks like real Carbon fiber, and I am not sure that I would pay as much for the real deal since I am a little clumsy and tend to drop my key quite a bit. For me this works great.

I want to counsel those who order this key clamshell. First, let me say from the start that it is a wonderful product. However, it comes without assembly instructions. It is not intended to go over the key that you have for your Macan S. Instead, it is intended to replace the side clam shell plates on each side of the metal remote key housing. It is simple enough to place with a very small flathead screw driver and a very small philips screwdriver. First throw the release switch on the back and remove the "hard key". Then remove the philips screw from the back and pull the eyelet. With the small flat head screwdriver GENTLY pry the original side plates on either side. Then Snap the new replacement clam shell side plates in place working from the narrow end to the back. Return the eyelet to its proper position, affix the philips screw and re-insert the "hard key".

I ordered two of these, one came quickly within a couple of days. After disassembling my key I noticed that one of the new covers was broken at the top, or small end where they key goes into the car. I put my original covers back on and submitted a return for replacement. About 5 days later my 2nd cover order came in, with the replacement covers in the same package. I inspected both sets of covers before getting back to work on the key fob, sure enough one the new covers was broken in the same spot. These are fairly delicate bits when they are not on the key fob, as they ship in soft envelopes I think they are getting crushed during shipping. The one that was not broken went on very easily, make sure you put the small end (where the key goes into the car) on first, there is a small tab there that goes into a recess, if you don't do this the cover will stick out on that end and could make turning the key difficult. I give the covers high marks for how they look, they fit well if you install them correctly. At this price even if they last a year or so they are a good value and can be easily replaced. I'm very happy with mine, and hope the replacement set for my second key is not broken again.

Nice covering for the key fob - looks good. I plan on buy another one for my spare key.
