Q: Can these be used for cake stencils? Is the plastic food safe?

I don't know if they are food safe, but I would say that they won't work for most cakes because they don't curve well--they are supposed to work flat. If you cake is square, that might work, even though the stencils that have large open areas would probably make a mess.

Q: Are these thick enough for plaster stencils?

I don’t know how thick a plaster stencil needs to be. I have used them for plaster work in art.

They’re not thin, somewhat thick a little flexible. I use on wood and fabric no issues. I’m sure once plaster set but still soft enough the impression of stencil design should come out great!!!

Q: are these rigid or floppy? i need something rigid enough that will hold it's flat shape as i pull it through soap batter.

I'm not sure about this, but being an artist i use them for stenciling backgrounds on a watercolor paper. It is made of heavy plastic, so maybe it will hold up.
