Bought this for a normal ac
honestly it's weird no one else is doing this. This is the best thing you can buy if you have a window ac in a side window instead of a vertical sliding window. It's good for any AC not just the suggested saddle type one.We had been using a tiny ac for 5 years trying with cardboard, foam pack board, and even plywood to keep the heat out and the cool in. All of these solutions required vast amounts of duct tape and tuck in insulation and most of them would warp from the crazy weather we get in the mountains and pull tape off and let heat and bugs in.I can say with certainty after spending a whole summer with this product that putting this in plus some extra ac insulation foam to make a seal and much less duct tape has kept the area much cooler than any previous summer. Plus you can actually look out your window which is a big plus. It's made of plexi-glass not real glass which might be a downer to some but we prefer this. In areas where it snows you still have to put any window ac away or it will break from the extreme temperatures and having this be plexi means it won't break when we store it away in the garage this winter, even if we drop it.

Light weight but well made.
Ok so it may ba a bit pricey for what it is but it does work well and allows for a fast install. Buying the pieces to make this yourself may save some cash but who wants to go down that rabbit hole. Not me!

Perfect
The installation is tricky, our son helped with it and is a little concerned that there are no brackets holding the window in place. Just foam and pressure from the sliding window. It is sturdy and looks very nice. It might look like a strong wind would push it over, but you cannot push it anywhere.Since this can be used anywhere in the window, depending on the style of your window, it's exactly the width of the AC unit. Foam is used to keep it in place and they provide plenty of it, also a few brackets for the variety of window installation possible.I love that I have a clear view and a lot of it. I can open the curtains, let light in and it look good from the outside as well.

Gets the job done
Okay, so it's definitely true that this is WAY too expensive for what it is, but if you're trying to get a window AC unit into your horizontal sliding window, this is probably your easiest option.I know the Frigidaire casement unit is an option, but I've read the install is difficult on those units.Otherwise, you can get the Soleus saddle AC, then go to a hardware store and get plexiglass cut to the exact dimensions of the opening. However, this takes time and it might take trial and error to get it fitted correctly. It's also possible with the retractible design of this to get it situated inside the frame, which you can't do with a single cut piece of plastic. Also, if ever you want to move the unit to a different window, you can't do that.So yeah, it's borderline unconscionable for them to sell this for more than $80, but it IS high quality and easily solves a problem in a way no other product can to my knowledge. Existence is suffering.

Works great
Works great, I had a different brand and type of AC unit and still works fine. I think as long as the AC unit is about the same width as this window piece it will work.

Poor Quality
Quality is very sub-par. Acrylic “glass” panels are incredibly thin and insufficient, and I can’t imagine them standing up to any type of stormy weather whatsoever. They’re also seated loosely, and rattle around inside the frame. Also, there is space between them with no weatherstripping to prevent insects and air from passing through. At this high price point, the overall quality is extremely disappointing. Returning.

Well-Made & Sturdy
Ok. This item came nicely boxed to protect it from bending or being damaged in transit. So people complain about the high price, but look what you get in return. Try making an actual window insert yourself that doesn't look ugly and that still emits some natural light above the air conditioner. This window insert is very well made with substantial plexiglass window panes and a clean, well-milled aluminum frame that looks just like a window. I retrofitted mine to a GE air conditioner whose width was just under the width of this frame and I installed in a left/right slider window. That's key cause you don't want to have to add left/right side fillers beyond maybe a 1/2-inch because then you sacrifice home security. If you live in a more public setting, a first floor, or have no other locking mechanisms on windows, this might not be a solution for you. While it looks fantastic, it wouldn't offer iron-clad window security. I love mine. It should last for years.

Perfect fit
Came across this plexiglass adjustable window to cover the opening of my sliding window for my AC. Was impressed and installation was easy. Looks great and fit good on our AC unit. A little pricey though but does the job.
