More plush like. It keeps it's structure very well, but it's soft enough to fold up and stuff into an backpack. It's very comfortable, kinda like a pillow surrounding your head.

Q: is it safe for 10 year olds to go trick or treating in it?

You are able to see out of it okay,but not spectacularly. I wouldn't recommend taking this out at night because of that, could lead to a nasty fall without an escort

It arrives folded and flat. So as to the number of boxes...it depends on how many fit in a box together.
