Hondabond High-Temp Silicone Liquid Gasket 1.9 fl oz

Someone recommended this stuff to me, but I've always just used the permatex brand stuff and shrugged it off. When I had to drop the trans pan on one of the cars, I was ordering stuff and decided to give it the "why not". I have to say, I'll never go back now. This stuff is dense, and man does it work well. It's very thick and difficult to get out of the tube, which is the first indicator that it's good stuff. I messed up and had to take the pan back off, and nothing I had would work as a solvent on this stuff. It scoffed at gasoline, denatured alcohol, etc. I had to scrape it to get it off even though it wasn't even set up yet. I'll never use anything else, even if this does cost twice as much.*Remember, regardless of what product you use: clean, oil-free, and dry surfaces are what you need for anything to work properly. This stuff is no exception. It's good stuff, but it won't stick to an unclean surface. Do your prep work.

Used this on the valve cover gaskets. Its a 2004 Subaru with the EJ205. Nice adhesion. Excellent sealer. Average working time.

Really glad I got the Honda bond gasket maker to use when I replaced my leaky old valve cover gasket. First time doing the job myself. I saw others using less expensive easily available ht sealers but heard that hondabond was better bc it performs the best and cleans up nicely if you have to take off your valve cover again and Ik I'll need to when I replace my timing belt. It was worth it to me to get the best product for the job even though I only used a lil bit. Ik I saved a pretty penny from diy'n it. Hopefully it keeps fresh in the tube for a while. It will harden if exposed to oxygen.

I've been using this for years and it works! I first used this on my honda transmissions for assembly (recommended part in honda sevice manual) after doing performance mods. This also is the OEM factory sealant used in original assembly by HMC and works flawlessly! Have put hundreds of thouands of miles on mine and customers vehicles using this product and never a leak or regret from using it! Honda tramissions don't use a gasket to seal the case halves, only a thin coating of this. Being an "old timmer or old school" I have to admit I was a bit concerned the first time I used this with no gasket on a transsmission, but I have been using it ever since with the utmost confidence. This isn't what most peopel think of when refering to "silicone sealent" . This is what I call a "sealant containing silicone" as it performs much better and differently than the normall RTV silicone sealants commonly used in the industry. I also use this as back up on gaskets in poorly engineered or troublesome sealling situations on all types of equipement repairs and service. I've never had this product fail to meet my expections.This doesn't corrode or negatively affect alluminum as do others, is easilly removed, has a high temp rating for crank case applications, and squeezed out excess, should application be to excessive, does not seperate and wind up internally in places it shouldn't be. I had been buying this from honda and paying thru the nose because it works so well untill recenty, I found it here for a fraction of the price!

First of all, this Hondabond High Temp silicone liquid gasket did a good job of sealing the valve cover on my Honda GCV160 power washer motor (no leaks).Secondly, I feel that Honda should have designed a specific gasket for this valve cover; instead of having to use a small portion of this expensive liquid gasket. I barely used any of this 1.9 fl oz and I guess I just keep the almost full tube in my storage. I think they could have made a gasket in the exact size as is needed; they could have made a gasket using this form-a-gasket and sold it for a lot cheaper cost.Thirdly, it takes the gasket one hour for an initial dry, then about 16 hours to become rubber-like, and 3 days for "perfect sealing". Do you really have the time to wait 3 days? I waited over 3 days.It does work!

A little priceyer than the average silicone sealant, but works so much better. Do let it set up before using equipment. Highly recommend.
