Fast sprouting if you follow the directions on the packet!
This plant is nostalgic for me. I lived in Hawaii as a child and it grew everywhere. So cool to touch it and make it close up EVERY SINGLE TIME. We called it sleeping grass and we would put it to sleep when we weren’t privy to inventions like technology to keep us busy and entertained. Back in the day this was our YouTube equivalent! I used tropical soil mix and kept it extra moist, sat the planter in a window for sun exposure and I am keeping it sitting on those disposable hand warmers that stay hot for 12 hours. New Orleans weather is still too erratic this time of year to keep it outside. I can’t wait to put the grass to sleep! So neat!. I’ve seen this advertised as a zombie plant also. It looks like it’s dying and then over some hours it opens back up to be put to sleep again. Oh yeah, I planted the seeds 4/8 and already have sprouts on 4/10!

Great viable seeds- need to know grow method for germination
So to give an honest review, I needed to go through the whole germination process.1. The seeds arrived super quick and there were indeed 100. Not that I counted but from iview it was a lot.2. As read in the reviews, I put the seeds in a cup and poured very hot tap water in the cup. I let the seeds soak for seven hours in the hot tap water. As you can see in the picture, some seeds song, some seeds floated. I was concerned that would have an effect on germination but it did not as I kept track of where I planted seeds that sunk as well as was aware of how many are placed in the napkin to germinate. some that I knew were floaters did produce a sprout.3. It wasn’t sure which was the best way to get them to sprout so I placed some of them in a wet paper towel and placed the wet paper towel in a Ziploc bag and left that in a warm room that is sunny. Then for the other seeds, I planted three seeds to a pot. 11 pots all together. And then misted them with water and placed them under a grow light near a sunny window so that it got just about a full 24 hours of light.4. The pictures show what I found after five days of this. As you can tell from the pictures I got much better results from the wet paper towel method then I did from the pots under a grow light. I found three sprouts in the pots. I found six sprouts in the Wet paper towel.5. The tricky part was getting the sprouts delicately placed into pots so they can continue to grow. I was able to do so by working with them ever so gently. Then I misted them with water. They are now all in pots, under a grow light. I also put plastic covers over them to ensure warmth. My fingers are crossed they continue to grow.I would say all in all from this point that this is a purchase worth making. Whether or not these plans continue to thrive is up to my own gardening skills so hopefully I get it right.

Crap seeds
I’ve tried to grow these seeds 3 times they will not germinate this last attempt I even tried in my grow tent which is the perfect environment as suggested. Nothing a complete wast of money I do not recommend buying from this seller if I could it would be zero stars.

Best $5 spent on amazon ever
Soaked 20+ seeds in a bowl of boiling hot water overnight, planted the next day. 1 week later, many sprouted; 2-3 weeks in, almost all sprouted. It's been over a month, they've kept growing. Very soon, we'll run out of space for them, and will give some away to schools etc., very fun for kids to play with and observe. After they have at least one to two pairs of mature leaves, I've dug out and thinned several clusters of the plants (I had to do this because when planting the seeds I didn't expect all of them to sprout and didn't bother to separate the seeds). I've even accidentally pulled a couple of the plants out of the soil completely (bare rooted), and they all survived the transplanting process. They grow well in most kinds of garden soil or garden + native soil mix, but seem to grow slightly better in the regular garden soil from homedepot.(Kept indoors at a sunny location, temperature never below 70F, watered twice a week. First two weeks were under plastic wrap, but it may not be necessary, just keep them moist.)

Slow Sprout Rate
So I used the popular method from the successful reviews of leaving the seeds soaked in boiling water overnight then putting them on moist paper towels in bags. But after a week and a half, only 1 seed has sprouted :(I hope the other seeds sprout, soon. I read through the reviews that they should be sprouting in 2-5 days but out of the 20 or so that I attempted to sprout only one little guy made it. But through deeper research online I learned that mimosa seeds can take between 21-40 days to sprout!Out of sadness I tried to entertain myself by seeing if this little seedling could already live up to its name as the 'sensitive plant' so I touched it gently and the two little leaflets (around 4 millimeters long each) closed up! (As seen in the picture)Nonetheless, I am still happy with my purchase.

Plant not responding to touch
I was very happy to get these as they are a reminder of the backyard plants I grew up with in the West Indies. I was proud of the fact that after following the instructions I had no problem with the growth of the seeds. I have seen the videos that some people have sent and they show their sapling leaves closing when touched. For some odd reason mine doesn't. It acts like a regular fern plant. So I am wondering if there might of been a mix up with seeds. I will still grow it but I will have to buy from someone else next time. The disappointment is a bit too much.

nostalgic
I grew up overseas and Mimosa Pudica was considered a weed, and it grows all over in the wild. As kids we would grab broom sticks to brush patches of mimosa and watch the magic/wonder action. I am starting a patch this season in my backyard for my kid. Hope it would create the same fun memory for him. My patch will not survive the northeast winter, so I am not worried about it overtaking my yard.
