What a Purchase!
I went against the grain (no pun intended) and ordered this unit instead of another. I cant say how much I LOVE this thing! I have loaded over 1000 rounds and here is what I can tell you:1) I have used every kind of powder and it weights them all. (Ball powder can prove to be picky)2) The unit measures spot on (after calibration) every time. Very rarely do I get an off charge. If it is off I have yet to see a charge plus or minus a 10th of a grain. So I just dump the powder back in and start another load.3) The footprint takes up little space and this unit is pretty quiet4) The display is easy on the eyes and easy to read5) The unit is simple to use and operate6) Once its calibrated I just set the charge I want and run it thru 3 times to verify and I am off and running7) I have found this unit to be so reliable and accurate I dont bother with my other units anymore. I still use a back up digital scale to weigh every 10 rounds or so and its always dead on. It has earned my trust.8) The unit has a bunch of different weight settings (you can weigh grams, ect) so you can use this to weigh random items (like bullets your loading, jewelry, ect)9) This unit can easily hold an entire container of powder and has an auto setting that will have powder dispensing faster than you can move to keep your reloading session moving along!10)Clean up is quick, easy, and keeps from loosing/wasting powder. The trap door for the powder is genius!

Outstanding value for the money
I've priced several of these types of units and I'm quite please with with my purchase. I've used several different types of powders in them (CFE-223, H-335, I4350, H-4350 and a couple of others) and it's had no problems accurately dispensing the programmed amount. I've already charged about 500 rounds and only one time did it go over the programmed amount, by 1 tenth of a grain. I was equally pleased by how accurate the scale is! I have another scale that I use for weighing the bullets themselves and the Gen6 is dead on.In the spirit of full disclosure, I've only had one hardware problem, which turned out to be a flaky power transformer. I contacted the company and they sent me a replacement immediately, free of charge.Cleanup is a breeze. Cap the feed chute, empty the unused powder and brush off any residual powder granules and you're pretty much done. The only recommendation I would pass along to anyone who purchases one of these devices (regardless of manufacturer), learn from my fail and place a cookie sheet or something underneath it, so on the off chance you do spill a little powder, or in my case, drop the powder cup, you don't get powder all over your bench and floor. Fine ball powder like Varget or H-335 is a bear to clean up.Finally, I'm really glad I made this purchase as it has sped up the amount of time it takes to measure powder and charge cases. Yes, it's a chunk of change, but it's definitely worth it for the hobbyist reloader.

*Positive Update* Fairly Happy With It - Previously: Less than 90 days and it’s dead
*Updated Review* Changed from One Star to FourBackground: I bought the first Lyman Gen 6 on June 26, and when I returned from vacation August 10 it was dead. I tested the voltage of the power supply, and it appeared to be the problem. I ordered a new 9V power supply, and it tested at 8.75V, but the scale still didn't work and I assumed it was toast. I called Lyman and CS offered to send me a new power supply, or send the whole scale to them for 8+ weeks of warranty repair. Because I bought the scale as an open box from Amazon, their 30 day guarantee was past.I was in a pickle. I have hunting season and a couple classes coming up, so I couldn't be without a scale for 2-3 months. I am setting up a portable reloading kit to take to the range with me, so I decided to just buy another dispenser. When I thought about which one to buy, the RCBS was $30 more than the Lyman, the Hornady was $30 less. I was generally happy with the Lyman, and their warranty was better. I decided to get another Lyman and just forget what happened to the first one. When I got the new scale, the new power supply started up the old scale just fine. So, for whatever reason, the second power supply did not fit the old scale. I called Lyman, they sent me a new power supply in under a week, and now I own two. So I'm an expert. On cleanout: I don't understand the folks that say it's a pain to clean out. It takes about 3 minutes. It spills a little powder if I hurry. The only part I don't like is reattaching the powder tube to its mount. It seems to want to cross thread. Otherwise it's really not a big deal. 1. Cap the tube 2. Move the scale to the edge of the bench and drain the hopper 3. Remove the tube, empty it 4. brush all the extra powder down into the catch basin 5. Remove the basin and drain it 6. Brush out the scale 7. ReassembleOn accuracy of the scale: As long as I calibrate the scales at the start of the session (which takes 30 seconds), both scales read the same. If I fail to calibrate, there can be a .2-.3 grain difference. When I compare the scales to my small stand alone reloading scale, they are within .1, which I assume is just a rounding issue. On accuracy of metering: I use the metering insert for all powders. It slows it down, especially on magnum rounds where I'm dispensing 85 grains of powder, but I have two scales, so who cares? And I'm not in a hurry when I'm reloading anyway. I've used it with CFE BLK (ball), 4831SC, Retumbo (stick) and H4350 (small sticks). The CFE BLK hit its weight almost every time. The 4831SC and Retumbo sometimes over dispense by .1g, but the sticks are big enough to pick up one or two with tweezers quickly and get the right weight. The 4350 was a little more fiddly. It over dispensed fairly frequently, and that powder is too small to pick up. I could pinch some out of the pan, but the scale didn't like to trickle that powder. Ultimately it was better to take a 2-3g out of the pan and trickle up, rather than .1 or .2. Still, the scale was an asset. Just fiddly.Lastly, I still wish there was a way to reduce (not eliminate) the "beep" volume. It's louder than it needs to be. If there were holes in the body that the sound comes out of, I would tape over them. Maybe I'll have to build some sort of foam lined cradle for it to sit in to muffle the sound.Bottom line, it's a good scale. Lyman's service is good, as long as you don't need the scale back quickly. The cleanout isn't bad, certainly nothing to complain about. Accuracy is good. My frustration from the original review is gone. Hopefully these scales hold up over time.*Original Review Below*The scale worked great for two months. I bought it in June and used it until late July when I went on vacation. I’m back from vacation and... it’s dead. As a doornail. No response from the unit. The power supply isn't putting out any voltage, so I tried it with another 9V power supply and it still doesn't work.Other than the whole “use it for a couple months and throw it away” thing, my only issue with the scale was the beeping. I’d like to see a way to mute the sound so I can work quietly.
