All metal construction
Installed in minutes with some simple snaps into place on the 2005 ML350. These have all metal ends instead of the molded plastic that cracked on the previous set. Provided perfect support and ease of opening once installed. I'm not sure why they fail so often on the Mercedes. I've replaced mine several times over the years. These were affordable and are working as expected.

It work well in a Mercedes
I bought this Hood Lifters for my 2001 Mercedes ML320 about two month ago, and it is working well in my Mercedes. It looks almost like the originals, it works like the original and it was easy to put it on. The hood hold very strong. This product meet my expectations. I am a happy customer. I hope this can help someone else looking to purchase this product.

Easy install on 2002 ML500
Start by securing the hood by having a person hold the hood open or make use of a piece of wood to securely prop it open. The hardest part, by far, of the install process is removing the old struts. You do this by prying the retaining clip off the two "heads" of each of the existing struts with a small slotted screwdriver. You don't have to be gentle as you won't be saving these clips - just get them off and try not to let them fall into the engine compartment. Once the clips are off, bump the two ends of the old strut inwards toward the engine to dislodge the strut from the mounting knobs on the car. Once the struts are off, give the mounting knobs a quick cleaning. I simply used a little WD-40 on a rag. Now, take the ends of the new struts and simply pop them on to the "knobs" you just cleaned. Note that the gas cylinder goes towards the hood while the piston end goes toward the car. Make sure they are securely in place and that the retaining clips have not become dislodged when you popped the struts on. That's it!I can't give you any feedback on longevity - I just put them on a few minutes ago. I will update this review if I encounter any problems.
