Virbac Otomite Plus Ear Mite Treatment for Dogs and Cats

I ordered this for my cat as she had a bad case of ear mites and had some really dirty ears. I've been using it for a few weeks so far and it seems to have reduced the ear mites quite a bit. I followed the instructions on the bottle and cleaned her ears first before adding the treatment. I think the cleaning really helped a lot. Also, you should be advised that if your cat doesn't have ear mites that the use of ear mite medicine might burn the cats ears. This may be the reason that some people who have reviewed this product have had issues with their cats' ears being burned. Only gave 4 stars out of 5 as it didn't completely git rid of the ear mites but did make the problem a lot better.

About six months ago, I rescued a kitten whose mama brought her to my door and whom I fed until an unfortunate experience, (a neighbors dog mauling her sister) caused me to bring her indoors. I already had two cats, and so after naming her Sierra, I did the usual-check up (she was in great health except for worms and ear mites) shots, and a spaying, the vet recommended I buy Revolution a product that kills ear mites, worms, etc. I bought a few doses which was pretty expensive, and because I only worked part time, had a hard time getting after the doses I had gotten. Eventually the job ended, and just as soon as it did, I was forced to look for a product online for ear mites as the ear mites my kitty had seemed to suddenly get worse, and I had noticed she had scratched her ear so badly it bled. I couldn't bear the thought these things in her ears were driving her crazy, so I came on here and found this product after trying to use an ear oil and a Q-Tip, which was nearly impossible out of fear if she moved wrong I might damage her eardrum, but not only that, it seemed to make her worse. The product arrived on time as promised, but upon opening didn't find the dosage instructions until I realized it was tucked inside label. Anyway, once found, waited until my kitty was in one of her better moods and then I scruffed her and dropped into her ear until wet as recommended on instructions. You would have thought I had done something horrible to her when afterwards she meowed angrily and ran from the room and under the couch for most of the day, but that wasn't caused by the product, rather I had the audacity to hold her against her will to drop this in her ears. No matter...She eventually came out from under the couch and "forgave me for my transgression"......and I am pleased to say it has been a day, she is shaking her head less, but better still, she is no longer scratching her little ear till bleeding, so it seems this product is working. I wasn't sure it would,not because of the quality but that the instructions said to clean the ear first, and with my kitty, when it comes to her ears, unless I plan to wear chain-mail doing this it wasn't in my best interest. It also says to use every seven days, no more than twice a week, so will check her ear next week, but from what I can tell she is doing much better. This has worked great for our cats and one dog, the other dog it has done nothing for though that may not be the fault of the product.

Definitely worth it, especially if you are in rescue. This is a great product. Say goodbye to ear mites for good...

Was nervous after reading some reviews. Don't be.. BUY IT. 4 days into use and mites are almost completely gone and they were BAD! My cat is 12 years old and taking well to the medicine! Buy this product

Cat's ears are much better after the first dose. But like all cats, she hates having any medication of any type. So use a towel to protect yourself against claws, otherwise you'll be wearing a lot of bandages.

I was sceptical because of the reviews but it worked great! I thought my little cream puff would never loose the ear mites. I tried advantage plus with no results. Now he is almost mite free with only a few doses.

I might have missed it in the product description, but this indicates on the label that it isn't for older cats. Also the instructions are attached to the bottle, difficult to remove, and written in VERY small print so not very user friendly.
