A DECENT PACK!
REALLY NEAT!.....A Really Good Pack At A Fair Price:A really good and all around pack, Will work good as a general field pack, Or can be a mainstay Or a bug out pack!....This pack is NOT nylon O.K it's made out of Heavy Canvass or Duck and critical parts are double stitched so w care it should last a long time.Yes i was using a cheapie day pack for Hunting and my Jaunts in the woods but this pack will now replace that sic!.PROS:Good Heavy MaterialsPlaces for extra fasteners and hangersInside pouch big enough to hold a 15-16 in LaptopPlenty of room and tie downs.CONS:The Pack is NOT waterproofThe buckles and keepers ARE too small and i had to enlarge mine...Now not being Nylon this isnt a cargo or an existence pack, Buy a big rucksack w frame if you want to haul or drag heavy loadsThis pack is eerily reminiscent of British M37 pack Or our U.S M28 or 34 gear like as used in WWII!.....Yes there are 2 sizes here a 16 and a 19 in pack, So wanting a bigger one i sprung for the 19 inch and am quite happy w this one. This particular pack is bigger than the small Alice tho a LOT smaller then a 'Frame Pack' so in a way you get the best of both worlds."In short a really nice pack at a fair price as its rather a M37 on steroids and I am definitely a Happy Camper!.....So why just 4 STARS?????.1.Pack is NOT ready to go out of box as i had to manually resize the buckles.2.No heavy bottom piece stitched on, No water proof bag included...'But these things aside this is truly a good pack and a bargain for the money!.....IndianaED

Nice Bag, One Minor Flaw.
Sturdy, big, not too show off-y. checks all my boxes, bought it as a bug out bag and it can easily hold 3 days worth supplies + surplus. I've hiked a total of about 10 miles with it and the only issue I've had is the metal fittings on the straps which can fall off after some use, but that can be fixed in about 10 minutes by lashing the straps ends as needed.

Lots of Mileage and Still Going Strong
I purchased this in early 2009 for when I was going to the Middle East for humanitarian work. It went through every abuse imaginable for nearly 3 years. The only damage that happened was the metal ends on the straps came off. Now there is a little fray on the ends of these straps but hardly an issue. Having returned from the desert, I went back to my old profession as a photojournalist. I use this bag to carry my gear. It continues to get abused daily in rain, mud, and snow. This almost 5 year old bag is covered in stains, decorated by patches from close to 20 countries I've traveled, and carries countless memories of my life abroad. It still remains as durable as when I got it. I look forward to many more years of adventures with it.

Great quality pack
Great quality pack, side pouches perfect for Nalgene bottles. There are more pockets and compartments than I was expecting, great for organizing everything. The metal crimps on the ends of the straps are too big to go through the latches, they will eventually fall off and i will have to stitch the ends of the straps to keep them from fraying. Other than that it is very well constructed and made of awesome heavy canvas.

Just what I wanted
The bag is made from a good quality canvas just as advert said, yes the straps are some what hard to figer out at first but if you have ever used a military type before you'll be just fine. The bag have THREE outer pouches not two!! The two on the side are narrow but deep, great for smaller items that tend to roll around or for a small water bottle. The one larger pouch is great for a med kit. the bag tends to hang loss on the back if its not full and makes running with it out of the question but if strap a belt around it its just fine. Its comfortable and feels like it should last a life time if you not plan on using it every day it a great day bag but should not be used as a hardcore hiking bag, if you're looking for a good bear-bones bag this is a great bag.

It's holding up fine, but I don't think it will be in ...
I have one similar to this bought at the Army-Navy store in 1994. Used it 4 years college, numerous camping and hiking trips, haul stuff on the motorcycle all the time. I wish I had bought 5 of them back then, I've been looking for another one ever since.I was hoping this pack was the same thing. This is made on the same pattern, but thinner canvas and cheap buckles. My 14 year old has used for a bookbag for a year now. It's holding up fine, but I don't think it will be in use 20 years from now.

Old School Cool
Item arrived in good shape and fast with free shipping, new by Fox Tactical. I've been looking for one similar to an old USGI surplus, circa 1953, pack my dad bought years ago at a flea-market, this rucksack is brand new (made in India), larger(about 1600+ cubic cm), and holds a lot of gear, stitching is good, no blemishes, rips, tears, what so ever, and it was cheap (about $35). I dropped a rectangular five gallon waste basket in the main pouch for an internal frame support, and with a Nix Wax treatment, and a couple of lashing points attached, looking forward to this being my go to rucksack for all sorts of day adventures, light travel, and one to two night forays.Pros - Old School Cool, larger than original GI issue, padded shoulder strapsCons - Not MOLLE compatible, soft duck material lighter than original canvas material, metal tabs on straps tend to fall off, no attachment points underneath for lashing tarps, etc.

Worth it
The shoulder straps will slip through the metal things that are supposed to secure them them. You have to tie a knot behind them once you have the length you want. Mine lasted me 3 years of heavy use. The shoulder straps will go first. The main part of the pack will lose its color and turn more khaki but it probably won't rip. It's really durable canvas. Definitely not a perfect bag but for $30 it's absolutely worth it. Only came back to this page to order a new one.
