Animal Planet PET20109 Raptor Dog Costume, Small

Those of us who are owned by our sight hounds know that clothing fit is always problematic. Long necks and barrel chests set these pups apart from more standard breeds. And, the kids will insist that our whippet (Beckham) must dress for Halloween. Ordinarily we buy and return any number of costumes, so this year I was determined to find something early and be done with it. I searched around and came upon this fun little number. It even says that the "large" is sized for Whippets. Well, it really is not. The straps are much too wide and to use the velcro you must tie the straps under the dog and then secure them. The hat is also a bit large and you have to tie those straps too. Also, the two pieces don't fit together as they would on a less long necked breed. That said, the leg length is perfect for our little guy*.The costume overall is very cute and reasonably well made for the purpose it serves. We really like it and so are going to try to make fit adjustments in time for him to frighten the neighbor children this Halloween!Recommended with the aforementioned reservations.*Becks is a 35 lb, 22 inch whippet.

This costume is nice and fun, but don't be surprised if you run into sizing issues. Sizing is a bit difficult since there are so many body types when it comes to dogs. I've got an Aussie Shepherd/Klee Kai mix, about 35 lbs, so I ordered her the large and the hat and belly straps are too large. It'd be nice if they made the straps more versatile by having more Velcro so you can make it tighter around the stomach (I may do this myself because the belly is just too loose for her). The "sleeves", however, are perfectly sized for her, and she doesn't seem to mind the costume itself, though the hat almost immediate comes off (not that I blame her). It does make her match pretty well with my husband though, who dressed as Owen Grady from Jurassic World, and she was our funny little raptor. So I really liked it, but it has its problems that could be better such as making straps more adjustable to more accurately fit various body types. I already knew it'd be red and not brown thanks to other people's pics they posted, so that didn't concern me.

I was very excited to recieve this costume. There was minor disappointment when I opened it and noticed it is not like the picture, which I now know is heavily photoshopped. One big thing to me is how the the costume appears scaly, and the scales seem to glisten in the picture. In actuality, the scales do not shine. And they do not cover the entirety of the costume. Also, the eye and nostril appear to blend in on the picture, but they are just stickers on the headpiece of the costume. Also, I bought a small and the body piece is still somewhat large on my schnauzer shih tzu mix, although the tail doesn't extend long enough for his body.All in all, it was still a cute buy, my dog will be matching with me in my inflatable t-rex outfit. I just would have preferred if it had shiny scales across the body.P.s. I couldn't figure out how to post a picture on the mobile review.

I found this costume by browsing pet toys, I never laughed so hard. I read the reviews and should have listened! This costume does run big. I ordered it in a medium for my dachshund that is about 16 pounds. Medium is way too big. He normally wears a medium in sweaters / shirts but this costume is a very large medium. I knew I would have to shorten the legs which is no biggie but I am going to have to alter the entire costume. Even the head piece is too big.Other than the sizing, it is very well made and absolutely hysterical! This is a great costume choice as long as you get it in the correct size and keep in mind, if you have a shorty dog, you will definitely have to alter the legs - it was apparently made for taller dogs. Definitely worth buying though.

We bought this for our pit bull pup for Halloween. It fit fairly well and was really cute. Sizing is a bit weird though. He's a medium size for collars and harnesses, but after measuring him, we decided to go bigger for this. It fit rather snug between the arms and shoulders blades, but the straps around the neck and belly were very loose. Also, the raptor head is a separate piece and not attached to the body part. It worked for pictures, but it kept flipping around when he moved. You could sow a button to keep the 2 pieces together if you wanted. I just ordered too late to have time for it.

my dude has a deep chest and a wiener dog length (pekenese and wiener dog mix) So he's hard to shop for, anyway. The legs were a bit too long, and the belly strap went over his rib cage so was a bit long. The hat was overstuffed, so it was hard to make it fit down on his head.However, he would lightly nibble at the front claws of the costume and so it totally looked all "T-Rex biting his nails"This is an adorable costume, if it were a bit more adjustable it would be perfect, and I don't see how it would work for a actual small dog w/ a small dog body system, as it was just a bit too small for my small dog who is built like a big dog.

The body was easy to put on and the dog got used to the feeling of having sleeves. However, I am still confused by the hood. It has one method of attachment in the form of a velcro collar at the base. On our dog, the shape was not compatible with her head, so we had the choice of either leaving the hood off, or having fabric teeth resting on her eyes all day. We chose to lose the hood, which of course makes this costume a little harder to recognize.Overall it worked as expected, but I do with the hood attached to the body at the back or was shaped a little better.

I ordered both the medium and the large costumes for my dog (an 8 mth old mutt - 28lbs but all legs and skinny around the middle). the medium actually does fit him, but it is snug, and the tail part is very short, and looks stupid. I wanted the tail to stick out behind him, like the photo. the large is MUCH MUCH bigger than the medium. the legs are at least 3 inches longer, and the tail is a good foot longer! it sticks way out behind his body.It looks much better than the medium, so I think I'll keep it, but I'm going to have to hem the legs, and adjust the velcro bands, because they are clearly meant for a dog three times fatter than him!

la verdad tuvimos problemas para determinar el tamaño correcto para mi mascota, así que le quedo un poco grande, pero no pasa nada es facil de ajustar, gran producto, gran precio!!!!

Terminé devolviendolo. No ajusta bien, la calidad no es el problema, de hecho se ve bien hecho, sino el modelo en sí, no ajusta para nada, mi perrita es un dachshund y se ve muy raro el modelo, no tenía forma y pues no parecía un salchiraptor para nada! Seguiré buscando el disfraz ideal!
