Great blender!
I bought this blender after my old blender jar broke. I wanted a Cuisinart because that was what my old blender was and it never gave me problems in blending my fruits and veggies daily. I read some of the negetive reveiws left by others who had purchased this blender, but decided to take a chance and order it anyways due to my past success with this brand and the reasonable price offered on Amazon.I am so glad I did! This blender works even better than my last one and seems to be quieter as well. The only thing negetive I would say is that the chrome does look cheap. But for me, the way the blender works makes this issue matter little if at all.

Terrific blender. I own two of them.
I bought one of these over a year ago and have now bought another to use in my weekend home. This blender has features that should be copied by other manufacturers. The heavy glass container is mounted in a wide plastic base that makes it very stable when separated from the motor and placed on a counter. The container will not tip over. The little pouring spout is silly and unusable but, I've always poured from one of the square corners and have never spilled a drop. The motor seems a bit lightweight to be effective but I've never had a problem and both units always perform perfectly.

Cuisinart SPB-10CH: All That Glitters is Not Chrome
This blender works well and has a heavy glass cup and plastic lid. The buttons are large and easy to read. The base is not chrome, but a heavy shiny plastic, which looks a bit cheap to me. I am getting used to it, however. For the price, I expected a better blender and a better base material. I replaced a less expensive blender which worked just as well, without the nicer overall design and Cuisinart name. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the base stays shiny and does not chip to a black undercoat.

STICKER SHOCK !!
WOW!!, did I go through STICKER SHOCK during my time shopping for a replacement blender. My 20+ years Oster blender wouldno longer lock in place, making my pureeing of soups a mess. Did not want to use my food processor for the pureeing, nor my Ninja, just wanted a nice glass cap blender under $100.00! HA, what a lark! Do not know how long this blender will last, but this is what I found right out of the box.The base is very SHINY AND unusually LIGHT WEIGHT compared to my older Oster. The controls are push button and well spaced forsomeone with large fingers 7 speeds. The glass jar, 56 oz, its arm and lid are very substantial and appear to be of high quality. The spout is very small - almost an after thought. It does lock in place. The rotary mechanism between the jar and the base appears to be of plastic. With the base being very light, I might think the motormight also be of some sort of plastic as well. .I recommend this blender on the following points: I needed a glass jar (not plastic), willing to pay under $100.00 for it, my other small appliances are Cuisinart and to be in the safer side, I also purchased a warranty as well.

Love this blender.
I have never written a review for a product. However, I felt like this blender required something positive to be said about it. My sister has owned this blender for nearly two years and loves it. I nearly didn't buy it, despite her positive comments, due to the overwhelming number of negative reviews. I am very pleased with this blender. It is powerful. I make smoothies in it at least once daily and it quickly pulverizes ice and frozen fruit. I have had no issues with electrical smells, as mentioned by others. I love the very heavy glass container and heavy plastic lid. The bottom is a chrome-colored/covered plastic, making it lightweight, but it looks nice and doesn't impact the overall quality of the machine for the price. I would buy this again. Don't hesitate to purchase this budget-wise blender. Happy customer. :)

Very serviceable for price
I can't afford a VitaMix so I got this. It has been a good blender for frozen fruit smoothies. Much more effective at grinding up seeds, oats and other ingredients than the two Ninja blenders sitting in the back of a cabinet now. The Ninjas don't cycle food from the bottom as well. Also, this blender is waaay easier to clean!

A Real Surprise - and Not in Any Good Way!
We purchased this item in July of 2009 after careful research. We wanted a large capacity blender and this one was 56 oz. And of course Cuisinart is a respected brand. After the blender arrived, we thought it was a little "lightweight" in the base (plastic housing instead of metal), but we decided to keep it any way. We used it for about 5 minutes on our first try pureeing some soup ingredients before it quit with a strong electrical smell and a flashing LED.We finished the soup with our 40+ year old Osterizer and contacted Amazon Customer Service. They provided a "no hassle" exchange and we received and tried the 2nd one. It also emitted a strong "electrical" smell like a motor that is being severally over-worked (and we were only blending liquids and veggies), so we tended to use the Osterizer for smaller jobs and only used the Cuisinart when we needed to blend a large batch of something "light." Three days ago we were pureeing some tomato soup we had prepared and it conked out on us the same way the original one had died - of course it is out of warranty by now.A real surprise and disappointment!! We even tried to use the Cuisinart's large capacity jar on the Osterizer that just keeps going and going like the Energizer Bunny, but it didn't work. :(

Healthy Living
I bought this product to replace another Cuisinart blender/food processor that I had owned for YEARS. So far I've only used it to blend together smoothies, but have been VERY satisfied. I intend to use the food processor attachments soon. My old Cuisinart lasted a very long time and performed wonderfully. My expectation is that the same will be true for this one.
