STANLEY BC50BS Battery Charger

Wow, can't believe I waited so long to get this. Much needed. Works great! Super easy to use. Fast charging. No noise of any consequence. Great value and easy to read

Revived a dead car battery showing only 3v. It took me a few runs of rapid 15a charge to get it to register. I was running it then it would show bad battery. I kept cycling the 50a start cycle then 15a rapid charge cycle then over again maybe 5-6 times till the voltage started to come up past 10v. The charger would try to charge but only get to 4a then next time 6a, then keep going with the cycles until I got to 15a and then the 15a charge cycle got it going without issue. Did a full 15a where it went into float mode. Then did a recondition cycle. This cycle takes a couple days but for batteries costing 200+ these days, this was the perfect alternative. Works great and would recommend to anyone needing a charger.

Honestly I would give it a full 5 Stars if they had a tougher housing on it and larger text/meters on the display. They have a large display area but actual text or meters on it are smaller than they need to be. Plastic case works and fits nice but it does not appear to be sturdy for the long-term use but time will tell on that. Operation of it is straightforward with a very detailed to the point user manual. Voltage check, alternator check, normal charge cycle with real-time amps monitoring is super handy/informative. Nice compact size with heavy duty battery clamps. If it holds up after repeated use I will be very happy with it. Actually I haven't used the 50 amp battery boost function but since all the other functions work as described I would be that works fine too. I have a compact instant battery starter so I did not buy this battery charger for the start/boost function. Looks like this same unit is marketed under a few other brand names probably made by the same outfit? So far happy with purchase easy to use product that works.

Buttons are sticking, sometimes don't work. This is the second one ive bought and then 1st one still works great. Don't know what happened in mfg or QA

I have many chargers, for 50+ years working on cars this is the best. (EVER)no down sides.it works, fast. and does not stress the battery.has a built in fans can not overheat.it is a smart charger too, and reduces to float charge.

I wish I had read and believed all the negative reviews about this charger before I wasted $50, being just past the return window. So please allow me to confirm a very important point: THIS CHARGER WILL NOT CHARGE A FULLY DISCHARGED BATTERY.After trying everything I could think of to charge my zero turn lawnmower battery, I decided to check the reviews and found the aforementioned claim. My first impulse was to think that was too ridiculous to be true, so I had to test it for myself.The lawnmower wouldn't charge and only displayed the bad connection icon, i.e., a graphic with an empty battery with blinking leads and no lines leading to the battery. I then connected to my fully charged truck battery, and it would connect and charge that (note, it wouldn't charge a dead battery, but it would charge a fully charged battery). I then hooked up my 50-year-old charger to my lawnmower and charged it until it reached over 10v and tried the Stanley charger again. This time, no problem; it would charge just fine.So please think about that: I had to have a charger to charge the battery before the Stanley charger would charge the battery. Why do I need the Stanley charger if I need to have another charger for it to work?!? That's beyond ridiculous. I suppose if you're very careful not to fully drain a battery when you accidentally leave the lights on, then it'll work, but then if you were that careful, you wouldn't leave the lights on in the first place.Wow; I sure wish I could get my $50 back, so I wouldn't feel so wasteful skeet-shooting this thing.

Less than two years after I bought the charger, one day I simply plugged in the charger with all the leads isolated and smoke came out from the charger. I opened the unit and found two power transistors burned beyond recognition. I am able to repair the unit if I could find the part ID. After numerous contacts with Stanley support, their 3d party support unit would not help me identify the part number and they simply said that consumers should not open the unit. I made it clear that I am not looking to buy the parts from Stanley nor am I looking for any warranty support and simply asked the company to help me identify the components ID number. They simply ignored me and that's not what I was expecting from Stanley brand.Now I am faced with simply discarding the unit. My last correspondence to Stanley was that if they don't help me identify the parts, I will share my experience with other consumers. this is my share.

Only good as a tender. If the car isn’t starting, this thing won’t do you any good even if you leave it charging for hours. Remote start function also doesn’t work. Tried on multiple different vehicles, pretty much garbage for my use case
