If Buy, Don't Buy Renewed Version. Get a Brand New One is More Safe!
What I have received is not what have been promised on Amazon’s this "renewed product" descriptions web page:1. It was said that the “renewed” version looks new, but the one I received looked a bit old with the bottom of the item looks pretty worn out and scratched. Obviously this is quite an old item.2. It was promised it is the latest 2019/ renewed version, using Type C instead of Micro USB (suitable for SSD drive), but the one I got is definitely not 2019 version, using Micro USB, which is misleading, plus that is also why it is a bit slow.3. The item that I received took a long time to charge up, and a bit slow in data transmission. It is refurbished but does not seem to work normally as it should be.The purchase is disappointing since this is my first time buying renewed version of electronic product from Amazon.

Almost perfect
I have the previous model WD007 and I thought it 'died' on me (could recharge it). So I ordered this newer 'refurbished' model WD009 that offered greater battery capacity. When the WD009 arrived, I was disappointed in that it utilized a 'micro usb' connector instead of the popular standard USB-C [which the older model WD007 used]. If this newer model was a USB-C connector - this product would have received a 5-star rating. Caveat: anyone using this product and you cannot figure out how to change the default password of 111111; the manual gets an 'F' for failing to cover this important topic : just go to the app settings; WiFi settings; security - here you will find the default password that you MUST change.UPDATE: After a month of usage, the 'refurbished' product having difficulty turning on the WiFi. Buggy at best. I'm so skeptical about 'refurbished' goods so I purchased the replacement 'Insurance' option on the product: GUESS WHAT- I don't know how to use it because the merchant said they have no replacement! This is so aggravating.

3rd Look After Weeks of Use
UPDATED REVIEWI was finally able to get a reset and access the Filhub after an older trick that they called 30.30.30 (unit is on and you hold the reset pin for 30 sec, continue holding the reset pin and turn unit off for 30 sec, continue to hold reset pin and turn unit on lasting 30 sec). The 1st time I tried this the Filehub showed the Power and Internet symbols lit. I then did a regular reset and the unit powered on and started operating better. I suggest accessing the unit through a web browser and then hook up to your wireless internet (I tried using a LAN cord but that did not work). Then methodically go through the Wizzard steps (skip when needed). Note that during some saves you may get kicked off and have to go back in. And I was able to do a Firmware upgrade. Not sure if it actually helped; it's only been hours.I hope that they get the software working better down the road and soon!Good luck!2nd Review BelowNow the Filehub will not let me log in to the unit via the app or through a browser.I can connect to its WiFi, but that's it. Something happened with the unit; it has NOT been mishandled or dropped and I am unable to do a factory reset even though I have followed the step countless times.I am ALWAYS told via the Fulehub software or Browser that I am not using the correct password. This is very frustrating that there is no way to reset other than the Reset Pinhole and when that does not work, you are screwed just like me.Look for "RavPower RP-WD009_FileHub_20200108_V1.4.1_EN.pdf" for another user manual that you may find helpful, BTW.If you ever do get connected properly, NO search option available on iPad (iPhone?) so you are once again (fill in the blank)ed if you're looking through a large inventory of files. And, yes, documentation and Filehub software leave a lot to be desired!INITIAL REVIEW BELOWIt works very well if the device you're viewing can run the current Filehub app. These are my gripes: Filehub app unable to run on older tablets (other devices?) even when trying older versions of the APK. My device, a Samsung SGH-1497, was able to connect to the Filehub's WiFi but not to the hub itself through the app. Support could be better; I was asked, on RavPower's own site, to share my issue online through Messenger and their answer was for me to reach out again, but to their support@ravpower email address. This reply included, at the end of the message, the following: "Our dedicated team will come to assist the first time!". But that was the first time. Why have a Messenger option at all?The Filehib has the power to run an attached 4TB hard drive by itself which is great. You are NOT supposed to charge it while something is attached; it might be nice to have the option to be able to power the Filehub with an external plug-in power source and bypass the internal battery. It may not be necessary as the internal battery held up very well with the external hard drive attached. Maybe there will be an option to indicate an accurate battery percentage in the future? The door covering the ports opens below the bottom of the Filehub and its design, that includes protrusions that fit into both the USB A port and the Ethernet port, make for an awkward connection and could subject the ports to undo stress by whatever is plugged into it ( the door could have been engineered to open upward and would have made this a non-issue. I'm going to add some clear bumpers to the bottom to help it from sliding around and hopefully mitigate some of port stress.Look for some very helpful videos online that help you better understand what this thing can do for you because it has a lot going for it!Best, -L

Every iPad user should own this thing!
This thing is a beast!! My iPad Pro has 512gb of storage, but as an artist, that’s not nearly enough. This hub works exactly as advertised! The only gripe I have is the instructions. The instructions are jumbled a bit, so you have to pretty much go to the end of the little manual to figure out how to sync it your phone/tablet to the hubs’ internal wifi. But, once that’s done(don’t throw stuff😜), it’s a seamless interface. A lot faster than I was expecting to transfer files wirelessly! I’m impressed with this thing! It does a lot of different stuff & is inexpensive and a vital tool for anyone with an iPad, especially if there’s large art, picture, video or music files.
