Sony CFDS70BLK CD/Cassette Boombox Home Audio Radio, Black + Auxiliary Cable & Laser Lens Head Cleaner

My wife wanted a portable CD player that she could use in the garage or the garden. After a lot of research and looking at reviews I ordered this Sony for her. She couldn't be more pleased. It has a small footprint but a big sound. It plays her CD's and can also play MP3's. The controls are logical and well thought out. The price was a bit more than I had wanted to spend, but now I feel it was worth the extra investment.

Bought this for a gift. It works just great with many features. It's also easy to use. I'm sure other reviewers can give you more in-depth info on the qualities of this boombox, but I just wanted to write my review to cover one issue - the sound. It seems that searching for "boomboxes" on the internet really leads to to all types of stereos such as this one or even to portable wireless speakers for your mp3s. My problem is that these are NOT boomboxes in the traditional sense of the word! When I was a kid, a boom box was loud and actually had some punch to it because it had bass. That's why it was called a "Boom" box. Like many other devices out there, this one lacks any real bass. Just by looking at the speakers, it should tell you right away that it will be lacking in the low end of the sound spectrum. While it does sound good, I just wish people would stop advertising it as a "Boombox" because it really isn't. If you want a good device with many features, then this is the one. But if your looking for a device with a full rich sound to it, keep looking. The speakers on this one are just not meant for that.

I now have two of these . Good quality and I can listen to my cd's, cassettes or the radio. I would definitely recommend.

I ordered this compact cd player for my sister as a special gift. The described size was a selling point for me, and I was not disappointed. The CD player sits very nicely on her bedside table as I hoped it would. The CD player is not only small and attractive, it has wonderful sound for its compact size. This gift was a highly successful choice. My sister and I are both very happy with this CD player.

CD player died after 6 months. Kept having issues where I had to remove the CD, place it back in & close lid for it to "detect" the CD that had been in there. Now it says "No Disk" - I had a cheap boombox that played my CD every night for 3 years- I expected more of Sony- but I should have known better. The radio - no matter the station- has a hummm in it. Not to mention- I can't return it to Amazon. Mainly I play a CD when I go to sleep & sometimes hit play again during the night. This box could not do that. I wasted $90 on something that couldn't even last a year. Guess I'll go to WalMart & buy another cheap thing.

For the price and being a Sony product, I was disappointed. I did not receive the liquid cleaner, the CD player door was a manual lift, and the cassette player door would not open without the player being set on the cassette option. The sound quality was good. I guess Sony's quality has changed over the years. I have had a Sony under the counter radio and CD player for years. The quality of this product is excellent and still sounds great today. This product is a big disappointment. Would I send this back, "NO." By the time you pay for the postage and restocking fees, you have no monies to be returned. I will probably give this to my grandchildren.

Small, compact, but has the features that I like: plays mix CDs and music on a flash drive. Although the display does not show the name and artist of the song playing as the model I replaced, this model has a sleep timer: 90, 60, 30, and 15 minutes, then shuts off. When turning on the next time, the player picks up where it left off. Since I use the radio to fall asleep to, it doesn't force me to start from Track 1 each night. Yes, there are buttons to advance the tracks. I rarely listen to the radio, and have not carried it outside the bedroom, but the FM reception seems fine.

Not the greatest sound quality in the world, but for the price & also to be able to play antique cassette tapes, it does the trick.

It was disappointing when preparing to plug in the Sony CFD-S70 boombox that the plug supplied appears to be Chinese and does not enable device to be played without needing to purchase ? from where, a lead that can be plugged into an Australian socket. It was a Christmas present for my husband but we have been unable to use it!
