Paul Rubens Watercolor Palette, 24 Wells with 2 Types Paint Tray for Paints Storage and Mixing Colors, Large and Deep, Suitable for Watercolor, Acrylic, Gouache, Oil Paint (Pink)

I use three of these palettes for my 72 set of Inktense blocks. I just break off a piece from the set to put in my palette wells and refill them as I need to. Both of the trays are removable; the large top mixing tray and the main tray with 24 long wells. I created a color swatch that I've laminated to fit behind the top tray in order to keep track of which colors are in each well.The only minor complaint I have is that the top tray pops out of the frame too easily and often falls off when I'm trying to close the lid, but since I don't tend to use it much outside of the main tray, a little tape on the sides does fine to keep it in place.Overall, I really like this palette for the well length and depth. As with other palette, they do tend to stain, but I have had no difficulty cleaning this palette out and find it invaluable for my needs.

edit of earlier review: if you don't like the big mixing tray with the Wells (which is pretty awesome) you can easily remove it, use sticky dots and this palette will hold 19AcrossX7down=133 half pans of watercolor paint or 19x6= 114 half pans of watercolor paint and leave plenty of room for 2-3 brushes. This is sort of fun just to think about if you're one to order several brands of paint and like to try out every thing ever invented for watercolor. I haven't tried it but the half pans might even fit on the lid side if you remove the flat mixing tray on that side and then you could leave the big mixing tray in the other side.... more experimenting but if you're looking for a giant palette with endless possibilities then buy this right now. I just filled it with the empty half pans that I had for the photo approx 100 but I didn't count them. The half pans DO NOT come with this palette, and you'd have to order those separately. This palette comes with a flat mixing area and a heavy tray where you would have Wells of paint..which. Would be awesome for larger painting. This is a giant heavy palette though. It's nearly the size of a piece of writing paper. Does appear to be appropriate for traveling but keep in mind it's GIANT.

I bought this for use a little differently than it's intended. My painting subjects vary, so I don't use a consistent set of colors. For instance, I may paint a floral one day, a landscape the next and a portrait the next, so I use a lot of different colors. That makes it hard to find a palette that is small enough to transport easily that holds over 60 colors. Enter this little gem. It comes with a wonderful removable large well insert for 24 colors, which would be great for someone starting out. It has a removable mixing tray, plus the area under that as well as the area under the 24 well insert. It has a gasket seal and snaps closed. If you use honey based paints, I recommend leaving it open until they are completely dry to prevent mold on you paints.

The only thing I don't like about this pallette is the fact that the removable mixing tray does not stay in place. I fixed that by putting some double sided tape on the backside. I love the size of the wells and like others, filled them only half full so as to have an area to mix the water and paint. The little slot at the end for holding a brush I use for the addition of 6 more half pans. I used pans with magnets on the bottom and put a little magnet strip in the slot - they stay put until I want to remove them. This pallette closes easily and as far as I can tell, seals well. You will need to rough up the mixing area as initially my paint did bead up. Update: the reminder mixing pallette warped already making it almost useless for mixing. Not a deal breaker, but with the price of this pallette, they should have done a better job with it.

This palette is unique and exactly what I wanted. The wells are deep and large, I think you could fit an entire small tube of paint in one. So there’s no worry of banging your brush bristles on tiny pans. Both the top and bottom trays are removable, so there are three large areas for mixing colors, EACH area being the size of the entire palette (6x12). There’s room at one end for a few short brushes. It closes and latches well. It’s sleek and compact and attractive. I love it and am going to order the blue one for a spare in case I can’t find it later.

I wanted a palette that had decent sized wells and a good number of them yet a small profile to save desk space. This fit the Bill perfectly. The palette itself is removable as is the separate mixing tray. You can also use both top and bottom for mixing with those out if you like. The wells do not slope, but are wide enough that there’s plenty of run off space if you load one side. The closure is secure and it’s overall very sturdy feeling. A great buy.

This is a beautiful and fuctional palette. It has a sturdy feel in the hand. Not light and flimsy like others I have held. It has a great way of holding paint in the vertical slots. This is pallet fills the bill for watercolor artists. I got the pink one and i think i will order the blue one to use in my travel pack.

I love the large wells that enables you to get large brushes in. There is plenty of mixing area as well. This is the perfect pallett. My absolute favorite!

Project came super fast and was exactly as described. I really like the big wells. Great for larger brushes and watering down your watercolours right in the well. Tons of mixing space as the wells come out. Overall totally worth the money and will be purchasing more for my other watercolours.

Jolie, pratique, robuste, les contenants sont grands ce qui est exactement ce que je recherchais. Attention ce n'est pas un format voyage elle est vraiment grande. Parfaite pour stocker plusieurs jours mes mélanges de peinture restants à la fin d'une toile. Je conseille en plus elle est vraiment jolie.

Grande palette, solide, modulable, c'est très pratique. Les éléments peuvent s'enlever pour travailler et se remettre dans la boîte pour le transport.

The palette is beautiful and I really like it. The wells are large and able to mix a large amount of paints within the wells themselves, and there is lots of mixing space. It’s a little large to be portable for field painting I feel, but the size is rather compact once closed. It does take up a bit of desk space, which is something to consider if you have limited studio space. I used this to hold my Mission Gold pure pigment watercolours.

Looking forward to using my paints in this airtight paint palette. Seems to be quite sturdy so will be great for travel as well. Plenty of space for mixing colours too. Thanks.
