The Giro Saros Road and Racing helmet provides premier features and modern style at a reasonable price - and features the new Roc Loc 5 fit system. After more than ten years of refinement, this ground-breaking fit system provides an entirely unique use experience with an unmatched level of comfort, stability, adjustability and weight savings. With Roc Loc 5, you can easily dial-in both fit tension and adjust vertical position with a single hand. Just twist the dial for a tighter feel on tough terrain, then back it off a notch and relax across the flats or a warm climb. Even with these remarkable features, Roc Loc 5 is still 40-percent lighter than its popular predecessor, Roc Loc 4. Roc Loc 5 systems is: 1) Micro Dial. The heart of the Roc Loc 5 is this ratcheting, micro-adjusting dial. A simple, two-finger twist of the Micro Dial opens or closes the retention system and each click is audible. 2) Three-Position Vertical Fit - It's never been easier to change vertical positions and fine-tune fit. We incorporated a three-position bracket that features 15-millimeters of precise up/down movement. Like the Micro Dial, this system can be adjusted without removing the helmet. 3) Carefully crafted ergonomic arms are shaped to be as comfortable as possible, yet work flawlessly with Giro eyewear (what we call Super Fit engineering). 4) Dual Pods - These two panels are designed to firmly grasp the back of your head while comfortably cradling the occipital lobe. Strap management - with Roc Loc 5, your helmet straps are woven through the fit system, so they are always in the perfect position. Complex Internal Design - Dozens of small parts work together seamlessly to provide exceptionally user-friendly adjustment. Minimal and Light, yet Strong - Although this fit system is 40% lighter than its predecessor, it's much stronger. In testing, Roc Loc 5 performs flawlessly, even after 6,600 cycles (equivalent to 3 years of riding with 3 round trips per day).

You can do better.....
I only gave it 3 stars because of the ratchet system. I was in a serious bike accident where I was knocked unconscious and my helmet likely saved my life or at least serious brain injury. It worked because my helmet was in place and did it's job. This helmet fits nicely and keeps my head cool even in Texas but the ratchet system loosens during the ride and the helmet starts riding back on my head so I have to pull it forward and tighten the ratchet. This really makes me nervous that if I have a wreck it won't be in the right place. Based on my personal experiences I can not recommend this helmet.

Excelent helmet for the price
Had to buy a new helmet after my old one got cracked after a fall I had couple of weeks ago. Did an extensive research. Was initially set on a Gyros AEON but those were going from $150 to almost $500. The SAROS are almost as good (a few onces heavier - which is imperceptble - and a bit less ventillation). But still an excellent quality helmet, quite confortable to wear, and with a fairly good level of fine adjustments so it fits snugs to your head. The SAROS are regularly priced from $100 to $350. I paid $69 on this one just because of the color. All the other colors started at about $120. So it was a very good deal overal for a very good quality helmet. I highly recommend it even for the more avid riders.

Yeah, sure, I'm into it
It's not a bad helmet, but I don't honestly prefer it to the cheap bell I had previously.I think that opinion maaay change as we get into very hot weather, because the one thing I can say to distinguish it is that I feel tremendous amounts of air being channeled along my scalp. Currently, it's actually a little annoying - gets kind of loud above 20mph and seems to suck bee-and-fly-sized bugs in to occasionally be trapped against my scalp until I suddenly and vigorously bat at my own head for a few seconds, making passing drivers think I'm even crazier than they already did...Still, sweatting your brains out going 10mph up a 15% grade - I can imagine being happy for the ventilation.Fits well. Adjusts easily.

This helmet is very well made and comfortable to wear
This helmet is very well made and comfortable to wear. Great ventilation and I have not had issues with sweat running in my eyes like other users. Maybe I ride with my head up more? The quick adjust knob on the back of the helmet and the collapsible rear bracing make this easy to fit to your Mellon and get off riding. Note that the plastic strap containing the know is adjustable up and down. There are three notches to accommodate various head sizes. It takes a little adjusting upfront (strap under chin) to get the straps to sit comfortably around your ears, but once it was set, I forget I'm wearing it all the time while I'm riding. Overall, great product.

Fit is wonderful, and looks really good
I read that the weight was a concern for some reviews, I must say that this helmet doesn't bother me when I wear it for extended (3 hour) rides. The adjustment knob on the back strap as well as the chin strap fits the helmet very nicely on my head. The silhouette is very agreeable also; I have a large head to begin with, but this helmet fits nicely and doesn't bulge at the bottom sides like my last much cheaper Giro helmet did.The white accents behind the ear, and the white strap clips add a nice contrast to the overall black look.

nice helmet
Nice helmet fairly light (claimed 312g for size large) and fits my head well. Adjustment is easy and when fitted correctly it is surprisingly comfortable for a helmet. Size large looks a bit mushroom-ey on my head from some angles but it isn't too dorky looking compared to many helmets in my opinion and the black and blue color scheme looks pretty slick. Would recommend for anyone that doesn't want to spend more for an atmos or Aeon but likes the giro look/fit.

good fit, light weight
It was was second option after Atmos (out of budget at the moment) and I am pleased with the quality, fit and looks. The straps were way too long, not a big deal in cutting them to a shorter length (you can take it to shop or do it yourself if you know how - needs to be hot 'sealed' after trimming). It is not bulky, smaller volume than some of competitors.Straps feel a bit weird sometimes as they dont follow the contour of the head perfectly.Good tight fit, looks decent as well.

Excellent product. Figured in an accident once before and my Giro helmet saved my head. Will not look at any other brand after that. This helmet has a nice locking system that works well but be warned that the range of adjustment is not substantial such that if you get your size wrong, the system might not be able to compensate. I recommend measuring your head for size and use the locking system for finer adjustments in fit.

Heavier than expected!
Gues that I should have checked the weight of this helmet before purchase, but colour, size, description was accurate! It will get a lot of use, I hope!
