Great quality tool.
I purchased the Bosch 12 volt driver almost 4 years ago.(4/11) I have used it on job sites as a carpenter and its followed me into the Maintenance field without a single hiccup from the unit. It has a tremendous amount of torque for its size and really helps me cut the weight I have to carry from job to job as opposed to a screw gun box. I have used it in places no screw gun will fit and the battery life has never been any issue at all. (I still use the originals) My "only" frustration with it was about 6 months after the purchase the carrying bag ripped at the handle. I contacted Bosch and they promptly replaced it with the wrong bag,, twice. I gave one away and I use one of the bags for my chisels so I just live with the torn handle. ALL In ALL a very solid tool but it might be a little over kill for the average homeowner needing to twist screws on the weekend due to the torque and the speed (not very adjustable).

A tool that works
I spent two and a half years remodeling our home. I did all the work myself (retired). I decided at the start to invest in tools that work regardless of cost. I am a retired tool designer, Industrial design and manufacturing. I know how crippling a poor functioning tool can be; ruining a days work, repair parts( maybe), transportation, shipping, time delays and added cost. I bought Bosch tools because of materials used in gears and bearings. The Bosch lithium batteries are also an excellent product. I have used this driver on every conceivable fastener from #4 machine screws to 1/4 inch X 4 inch lag bolts. With a 1/4 inch chuck I have mixed many 5 gallon buckets of sealer and paint and drilled holes in tight spaces at arms length that no other tool would fit in. I have owned the same driver and batteries since early 2011 and use it almost daily in my machine shop, on the gun range for target frame repair in zero degree weather, and around the house. Can't say enough about good design and use of materials. I also own other Bosch Portables and have never had a failure.

Excellent tool ---- not really
Excellent tool. It has plenty of power with long battery life. I will never buy another cheap one that only lasts a few months.Bosch power tools are of a higher quality than the homeowner quality tools such as B&D or Dewalt.Update about one year later. This tool has quit working completely. It was listed as having a 3 year warranty when I bought it. Now I learn that you have to pre-register for the warranty. It was my understanding that it is illegal to require pre-registration for warranty. I tried to send in for repair even if I had to pay for the repairs and quickly learned that is not really possible. No more purchases of anything Bosch.

shaves weight off the tool belt
I'm a professional SAT TV installer and I use this tool everyday for driving/screwing applications. I bought it so I could stop carrying my 18V drill on my tool bet all day, here's my review after 3 monthsThe GOOD:It's powerfull enough to handle most driving applications and even some light drilling with an adapter, it has allowed me to reduce the amount of time I carry my full size drill by about 70%, my knees are thanking me it.Roughly half the weight of my 18V drill (RIDGID X3)The 5 position head is versatile and make a lot of tasks easier or at least more comfortable. The batteries last a long time and charge quickly.Quick change chuck upside is it allows for very fast and simple bit change, using it with a set of magnetic nutdrivers saves a lot of time and effort! The BAD:Quick change chuck downside is that the bits have some play in the chuck, althougth they cant fall out, they are not not held firmly in the toolThe play in the chuck makes drilling unstable and imprecise, it cannot remplace a drill at all for making holes bigger than 1/4inch.The driver only starts turning after you have pressed through the first 1/4inch of travel of the trigger, which makes using the variable speed a bit akward at first and requires some getting used to, but it's quite precise once you get the hang of it. You may strip out screw holes EASILY if you try to learn this while driving screws in soft materials like cabinets. The useless hanging pin keeps getting in the way, I removed it on the second day. thankfully it is not permenantly attached to the toolOverall I accomplished my goal of reducing the weight of my tool belt, this tool is not perfect but still VERY, VERY usefull.

The battery has a good life between charges and in terms of balance and ...
As is usually the case this Bosch tool is very well-made. Its light, well-balanced and powerful. The battery has a good life between charges and in terms of balance and aesthetics its a great device. My main concern with it is that although it has a "clutch" adjustment (which doesn't have a noticeable effect) you can't really adjust the torque. This is important for me as a biomedical engineer because not only do I need to drill holes in concrete and steel I also need a good powered screwdriver for electronics. If you use this as a powered screwdriver you WILL strip bolt heads. The Milwaukee drill I was using had a good torque adjustment that would disengage the drive when a bolt was fully seated. The Bosch just keeps driving and destroy the bolt. I'll probably end up returning it because of that and looking for something more versatile. This is a great cordless drill but nothing more.
