LG WH16NS40 16X Super Multi M-Disc Blu-ray BDXL DVD CD Internal Burner Writer Drive + Free 1pk Mdisc BD + Nero Software + Cables & Mounting Screws

This was easy to install and worked great with my windows 10 box. I was able to burn a 3D bluray disk (other software needed). It also worked with the only bluray player software for windows, including 3D (If you have the now rare monitor and gaming glasses).

We bought a few of these burners to use externally for the 'Daniel D. Teoli Jr. Archival Collection' and 'Daniel D. Teoli Jr. Small Gauge Film Archive' of which I am the curator. The unit burns all types of DVD's, and we have tried many, many brands and different types of media...gold DVD's, silver DVD's, branded DVD's, inkjet printed DVD, hub labeled DVD,s 25gb Blu-ray DVD's and all the various 'M' disk DVD's from 4.7gb, 25gb, 50gb to 100gb. Burned them ALL flawlessly. Yes, a little clunky opening and closing, but so what? As long as it works right we are very happy with it. We plan to buy more units.

I ordered this along with an external case enclosure to install it in. I haven't had any problems so far. It is a little loud when ejecting and inserting the tray but I guess this is not a big deal. I just hope it lasts a while. This cd rom drive doesn't vibrate at all like most of the other cd drives I've had before. This is nice.I don't normally buy anything by LG but this was the only M Disc burner that I could find that had good reviews.Update: 2/26/19After using this cd drive for about a month, I realized that I already had an M-Disc burner that I'd bought 4 or 5 years ago. I didn't even know it was a cd burner let alone an M-Disc burner. So anyway, I tried burning 25gigabyte discs on that one too and I realized something immediately. My old drive burns an M-Disc at least twice as fast as this LG drive. Strange. I thought something 4-5 years newer would definitely be faster and better but this is not the case. I'm not going to say the other brand but they mainly make high end motherboards and the company name starts with the letter A. I'm removing one star from this review due to how slow it burns M-Discs.

This product is even better than expected. Easy to use with Nero software. Does a fabulous job. I recommend this product. I also recommend to use with Nexstar DX enclosure which is a great product as well.

I bought this to update my windows 10 64 bit operating system workstation computer that I use for my video production work. I'm not a professional video editor most of my work is for home movies and what I post to my You Tube channel. The blu ray burner I had stopped working some time ago when I upgraded the computer from windows 8 to windows 10 and either the motor failed or the drivers wouldn't work with 10. The old burner was LG times 6 and this burner is much faster rated for either times 14 or 16 not sure which. Was easy to remove the old and install the new. I have not installed or used the software that came with the burner. I am very happy so far because I have several years of projects to burn so I can share with friends and family my video productions without posting the productions to the internet.
