Any electronic device is only as good as the sum of its parts. In gaming mice, a sensor is the most important piece of the puzzle. And with Mad Catz' R.A.T. PRO X, you need not be afraid of your sensor becoming outdated. Hot-swappable modules help ensure that as sensors inevitably improve, R.A.T. PRO X improves with them. But it's not just the sensor that you can modify. Almost everything you can touch is also interchangeable and adjustable. Nimble, robust, and immensely customizable, R.A.T. PRO X is the world's most advanced gaming mouse.

Function as well as Form
Day 1 review.I used my Cyborg RAT 7 for 6 years and loved every minute of it. The customization is amazing, i have huge hands and being able to stretch that palm rest back is beyond comfortable and a feature no other mouse can tout. The old RAT 7 was starting to have issues i couldn't solve so i caved in and my new RAT PRO X showed up 3 hours ago.Setup was cake. Driverless? Who needs drivers in 2016 anyway!Magnetic attachments for the hot swappable lasers and low friction slide pads? Genius.Software is solid, graphically clean and simple. I like it much more than the 2010 software i had for the RAT 7!I'll try to update the review in a few days after I've had more than an hour of game time with it, but so far it has been phenomenal. Excellent responsiveness and the clicks feel so... deadly.P.S. CERAMIC "ULTRA LOW FRICTION" is not a figure of speech, the mouse looked like it could almost defy the laws of physics with those pads. It just kept sliding... off my mouse pad... off my desk... out the window...

WARNING- MAD CATZ FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY and are no longer honouring warranties.
UPDATE 2017: I love this mouse- its my favorite, but it stopped working properly- and mad catz filed for bankruptcy and are no longer honouring their warranties, they have disconnected all phone lines, and wont answer support tickets anymore.I've owned many R.A.T mice, I can honestly say this has no more customization than others. Before I begin, let me state that madcatz mice are my top choices, I hate all their other products though. The last RAT mouse I owned was the RAT 9.Let's start off with what this mouse does well.- it feels sturdy ( as all rats do)- looks great- the dpi button is easy to reach and the LCD indicator is easy to see.- finger safety on the left mouse trigger- Padded triggers ( I really like this new feature)- palm rest moves and now the angle is adjustable ( this is my favorite new feature)- custom scroll wheels are well made- changeable scroll strength ( love this new feature too)- snapple sensors and easy quick snap- the analogue scroll wheel ( while I havent seen a game utilize this, u can set it to "e" and "q" and use it to lean,) this is a nice feature- they got rid of the useless side thumb scroll wheel- insanely accurateOk so now let's get to what it's missing- the thumb pad does not move forward or out like in the RAT 9 (majorly disappointed this was not included)- no weights ( this mouse is super light- many people love light mice- but I personally like a heavy mouse- so no option to add weights is another major disappointment)-software has some bugs- I have experienced some freezes and some basic issues with the program- example I tell a new profile to use thumb button 1 and 2 to be forward and backward on web pages. Yet nothing happens. If I leave the option blank, the default overrides the button and allows it to be used as a forward back. I understand it's confusing but if you used the program you would understand- store after a year this software shouldn't be buggy.- it's just overpriced. It's lacking features the RAT 9 has/ not wireless ( which is ok), but I don't see how it's worth 200- profile changer is only bottom of the mouse( would be better to put it on the finger safety on the left trigger like on RAT 9.Overall I do like the mouse and it has helped improve my accuracy in FPSs due to the overall design. It's also comfortable but it's lacking many features that the RATs are known for.So would I recommend it. Yes and no. If you love RAT mice then I would say do it. I only use RATs now. If you have the cash and want a mouse you can fit to your hand for the most part- buy it. But if you are just branching into computers or aren't an avid gamer- I would say don't buy it. Instead go with the gskill version- it doesn't have the customization but it's a lot cheaper and will work.So lastly to mad cats. I know this is suppose to be your last mouse and it's futureproof, but I would say make just one more and ad all features. heck, send me a prototype and I'll give you my opinion on it.

Fix RAT PRO X "driver/software" issue
I am giving the RAT Pro X 5 stars because so far it does not seem to have any issues. However windows has an issue with the mouse specifically pertaining to what seems to be 'extra/double' input for games that have native controller key bindings like BattleField 4. Because this mouse is "Driver-less" it relies on the HID-compliant drivers from windows (default drivers); this is where the issue is. Under the device drivers for the RAT Pro X you will find that it has a driver called 'HID-compliant game controller', if you disable the driver for this mouse you should be able to play any game that you were having issues with.Below you will find pictures of how to complete this process. If you have any questions feel free to ask.(This process is for Windows 8.1 but should be simaler to other windows)To start go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers > Right click 'RAT PRO X' > Click properties > Go to Hardware tab > Find the HID compliant game controller driver and disable it.

Finally a R.A.T with a good sensor!
I loved the shape and feel of my old R.A.T 7 in hand but the sensor was garbage. I've tried a lot if mice since then landing most recently on the g502....until this came out. I've been waiting for them to put a good sensor in their mice and they finally did. This is a touch smaller than the R.A.T 7 and WAY lighter. Too light honestly. I remedied both of these things with a bit of rubber on the "pinky" rest area to make it wider and added another notch in the palm rest to extend it further. I like to play with my wrist off the surface and this helps that. I'm 6'2" but have below average sized hands for my height. I did also add weight to this mouse. Because it is so holey (for lack of a better word) you can put weights about anywhere. This may seem like a lot of work but some may think it feels fine out of the box. I just wanted that old RAT feel with a good sensor so I made it happen. Gaming mice I've tried: g9x, g500, g502, mionix naos 7000, zowie fk1, steelseries rival, R.A.T 7, probably 1 or 2 more I can't think of at the moment. This mouse beats all of them for me, even if it took slight mods to get there. I do wish they would've kept the weight and size of the original so I wouldn't have had to make the mods but it is still easily a 4.5 star mouse that I'd recommend to anyone.

good little mouse, alittle light though.....
after 15 years my my previous r.a.t pro decided to give up. probably the cable and solder points, but i wasn't going to break it open to fix it. so i bought this one, it's shorter, but it is adjustable in length, great mouse , accurate, but the silver button on the top is easily knocked and you could gain or lose movement suddenly, the button on the side is great when sniping.the only downside is that it's alittle lighter compaired to my older one, no weight to it. which may be a downer for some gamers that love a bit of weight in their hands. well worth it for under £50....

it is comfortable to use for extended periods
Very light mouse that I believe was made for using in tournaments. It is very smooth on the mouse mat and because its light, it is comfortable to use for extended periods. It has a kind of rubberized coating as well so it will not slip from your grip, and the rear palm rest is extendable. The software took seconds to download, (obviously depending on your internet connection), but it is not a large file. Its easy to use and adjust, and it can be customised with different profiles. I have not gone into this in any depth yet though.I would recommend this mouse for gaming, or even everyday use if you like something that's light and comfortable.

a nicely weighted mouse
I have been using this mouse for a few months now, and I really enjoy using it, I have primarily used it for FPS gaming and due to my aiming style it can be difficult to use mice that are either too heavy or too light and thankfully this mouse sits happily in the middle ground where its not light enough that you overshoot quick flicks and stop too abruptly, and its not heavy to the point where the mouse has some drift after a quick flick and begins to ache your arm on low sensitivities. my one main problem is that it isn't as customisable as some other mice from mad catz such as the R.A.T 7 where you can change the palm rest as well as the right side panel as well as adjust the angle of the left side panel, but in terms of usage this is a very minor issue that I have personally and doesn't really effect the quality of the mouse which feels very sturdy for a mouse with a plastic chassis. overall another high quality mouse from mad catz

This is a mouse - and it squeaks. (Not joking)
Main LMB literally squeaks with every press... Have some lubricant if this happens. Mouse is exceptionally light, and lack of modularity and variance makes it something to get used to.I had to change from a RAT 7, because I'd been using it for about 8 years... So yeah. Anyway, this will do until I can sell a kidney and afford a RAT 8+. Not bad value, all-plastic design makes it markedly different in weight, even from basic mice.

Top quality gaming mouse. I wouldn't choose anything else
What a fantastic mouse! I've read that people managed to pick it up for £20. That's a steal! I had to pay £50 but i still don't regret it. Maybe it's because madcatz went bust? I can't work out why though with the quality of this product. It's simply awesome. I've also had a modern warfare 2 xbox 360 controller from them in the past and again that was amazing! Some of my favourite products on the market. Would buy again in a heartbeat. Only downside is that there's no support offered on their website anymore....But the driver auto downloads through windows and if you want the customising software, i found the link on a youtube video and downloaded it 3rd party from there. It's lovely being able to customise each press of the DPI button to whatever DPI setting you want. The same goes for the precision aim. Although sadly this can't be changed from a precision aim button though. I wanted a 3rd optional button but alasEDIT: 32 months down the line and one of the LED's in the dpi indicator has stopped working but that's just an aesthetic thing. It still has full functionality and if i were to ever replace it, it would be for another R.A.T. pro S
