Quality and durability
I’ve had this grill for well over a year and it’s still going strong! It has a low and a high setting, cleans easily, and is super light weight. Great for rainy days or just small grilling needs.

This product is heaven-sent
I don't write a lot of product reviews, but this is one I can get really enthusiastic about. We are Manhattan city dwellers and love to grill. That's a problem because we live in an apartment building, and have no outdoor space, and no exhaust hood. I've learned to sear and broil meats and fish, but sometimes you need a grill... I considered many options - blowtorch, illegal hibachi on my fire escape, etc. But nothing could scratch the itch. Finally!! here is finally a HOT indoor grill that combines ambient, aerated heat with an iron grill surface that is easy to clean! It doesn't smoke up the kitchen any more than your stovetop range, and can seriously char some meat! It gets really, really hot.Of course this won't impart a charcoal flavor to your food. But it's much better than any George-Foreman-esque grill which are really just panini presses, to be honest. This one allows a lot of heat to grill and roast food while providing ample space above and below for food to aerate - which gives you a crisp crusty charred finish to fish and meat. This is DRY HEAT. That's what a grill is for.The product uses some kind of infrared convection technology. The trick is that the heat is emanating is situated above the pan where the drippings fall. That means the drippings do not heat, and don't sizzle. Hence no smoke. The food might smoke a little up top, but it won't create a cloud in your kitchen. Just enough for you to smell what you're having for dinner. Yum!Caveat: I am cooking for two. This isn't a great solution for a barbecue party for 10 people. You want to give your food some good space on the grill - don't crowd the lamb chops! So far we've tried some chicken skewers which I marinated in soy, sesame, and sugar. The first skewer actually overcooked in under 8 minutes! The second one got a better sear, and was moist and delicious. We also grilled a whole stuffed branzino. I used no oil, get the skin nice and crispy. It was some of the best grilled fish we've ever had. Winner Winner Fish Dinner.Cleanup is a cinch. The drippings tray pulls out goes into the dish washer. The grill comes off and goes into the dishwasher. I reward my hard work with another glass of wine.Hope you enjoy your Phillips Smokeless Indoor Grill as much as we have! Cheers.

This Grill is a Keeper
Recently we moved to a condominium, which we discovered that due to ceiling fire sprinkler systems and balconies, grilling outdoors on the patios is not permitted. Being frustrated since I like to grill, I did extensive internet searching and purchased an electric I hoped I could use indoors. Without mentioning the brand, it had reversible plates and an adjustable top section that you pressed down cooking both top and bottom at the same time. As an alternative, you could simply leave the top section opened up to grill. I tried hamburgers using the method of pushing the top down and it soon created an indoor smoke storm throughout myentire condo while scorching the burgers. After cleanup, running the kitchen exhaust fan on high and the A/C, I returned the product but never gave up. I came upon the Phillips product and after reading many positive reviews, I purchased it in April and had to wait until May 7th since they were sold out. I also ordered the Instant Thermometer displayed on this listed here.Alpha Grillers Instant Read Thermometer. Ultra Fast Digital Cooking Tool With BBQ Internal Meat Temperature Chart. (Spring Loaded Thermabud). As it turns out, the thermometer is essential for steaks and chicken. The bottom line is I'm thrilled at the performance. The person who gave this a one star may have read the directions improperly. I saw, turn on warm for 2 seconds, then on full heat, and pt on the items to cook. It take a few minutes to get going and then you must be attentive. I grilled Ballpark franks and they plumped up, blacked and split the way we like them. My sirloin burgers were overdone the first time and were dry. The next time I used the Alpha Grillers thermometer carefully and removed the burgers just before they hit 165 degrees. They were juicy and delicious. My boneless rib eye steaks were done to a perfect medium rare with sizzled grill marks. I made chicken kabobs and after awhile realized it would cook more thoroughly by grilling the chicken and veggies by removing the wooden sticks. I have used the grill on my stove top with a low exhaust fan and also on the junction corner of my counter top to keep it out from under the cabinets. I held my hand above the grill about 6 to 8 inches to see how hot it might be and amazingly it was only warm. I had no actual splattering occur and only noticed a small sheen of cleanup on my granite counter top probably from a fine mist that settled there. After cooling down, clean up was simple. Don't use metal grill utensils on the grill. Remove it, wipe off the top and bottom over your disposal, then squirt it off with hot water and place into the dishwasher. Remove the grease tray and wipe it out with paper towel, use your non-metal flipper to scrap off any excess stuck on debris, squirt it off and put into the dishwasher. Then I used a damp kitchen washcloth with some dawn dish detergent on it to rub off the inside edges of the grill. Voila. This whole process was under 10 minutes. Everything came out clean and you simply put it aside until the next use. You couldn't pay me to give this product back!
