Legit looks like military issue!
Nice matte finish that will not be too bright or glossy on your old dog of a 98k! Mine went on a rough, been there/done that dou45 Vietnam bring back with jungle patina and it blends well enough though I'll eventually scuff the hood up with light sandpaper and maybe a quick wipe down with some muratic to give it some plum color. Again, looks and feels like milsurp! ***THIS IS AN EXCELLENT PIECE AND A TRUE BARGAIN!***

Likely perfect for an original, but not my ankara pattern.

Exactly what I needed.
It was a pain to get on, but it certainly won't just come off easily either. It's exactly what I needed for my grandpa's old Yugo Mauser I inherited.

this is a second one, fit on mauser rifle also 336c marlin
The first one was for a 30 30 marlin sight, which had to open with a chisel. abbot.out 1/8". measured after removing chisel. measure at the largest opening point, not center. used channel locks to start and a plastic hammer to tap on going from side to side tapping.I bought a second one for my Mauser rifle, a little oil and tapping with a plastic hammer. happy with both.

Not a direct fit.
If you want to get this 1/8 gapped hood onto your Mauser (3/8 gap), you'll need to do some filing/machining,or a jig to spread the tabs. The hood is also a thicker steel, so expect a lot of work. There's a reason it's seven bucks, cause it is junk. Spend twenty and get a good repro unless you have a lot of time on your hands and some tools.

tight fit. requires minor machineing.
required modification to fit my k98k.

I used it on a Winchester model 94
I’m knocked off about three front sites. Hopefully this will prevent that from happening anymore and I also steaked the front sight this time ! It fit fine with minimal work and offers enough clearance to not make the front sight too dark to see. It fits very securely and Is built stout out of heavier then the Winchester factory hood:
