Good performer, better than other non-amplified "HDTV" antennas
This antenna far outperforms other non-amplified "HDTV" antennas that are more popular and highly rated on Amazon. I had tried the Mohu Leaf 30 TV Antenna, Indoor, 30 Mile Range, Original Paper-thin, Reversible, Paintable, 4K-Ready HDTV, 10 Foot Detachable Cable, Premium Materials for Performance, USA Made, MH-110583  and a Terk HDTVAZ Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna  before that. They both got about the same reception, and the amplifier with the latter didn't help actually improve reception. This is a more proper antenna design, which wasn't limited by having to look sleek and decorative. But that's what you need if you want actual performance. With this antenna pointed in the right direction, it was the only one I tried that pulled in the furthest station in my metro area well enough to be usable. The other antennas could just barely receive it, and if the weather went bad, they didn't get enough of a signal to work at all. I now enjoy steady reception at all times of that station and a couple others that were sometimes weak when it was cloudy or rainy. I have a SiliconDust HDHomeRun CONNECT. FREE broadcast HDTV (2-Tuner) , and this antenna pulls in all of my stations at reported signal strengths of 98% or better even in the rain, where the others would be down around 75-80% for the weak station in clear weather with the other flakier stations around 90% or so.I'm not going to count how many stations I can receive, because I think that's a silly way of comparing antennas. That is, I don't really care how many stations it might pull in to some degree or another from areas further away from me. This is for a couple reasons: one, this is a somewhat directional antenna, so it would matter toward which other city I pointed it, and two, I would have to count how many it receives in clear weather and rainy weather, when the signals are weakened a bit.A more rigorous way of comparing antenna performance is by measuring the gain, beam width, etc. I was pleasantly surprised to see these specs included on the 1-page of instructions included with the antenna, which I didn't find listed on either Amazon's or the manufacturer's product pages. Although these might be just as hard to find for other antennas, for what it's worth, here are the manufacturer's specs for comparison:For 174-230MHz: 4-7dB gain, 80 deg horiz. / 90 deg vert. beam width, 7-12dB F-B ratioFor 470-862MHz: 7-12dB gain, 50 deg horiz. / 70 deg vert. beam width, 10-16dB F-B ratioAnyway, in the end, what matters to me is that this one consistently gets all of the major stations in my area, and the others did not.I didn't bother mounting this outside. I just suspended it from a drop ceiling in an out of the way corner, and ran a cable to the receiver. (FYI, when I was testing the others, they were mounted very close to where this is now.) I'm very happy with this antenna, and recommend it.

Terrific product at a great price!
This is a wonderful antenna, but not strong enough for my needs. I have it connected to one TV right now, set up on my roof about 30 feet off the ground and receive about 50+ channels off it. Crystal clear picture, too! Set up was fast and easy. However, I can't receive 2 channels in my area that I like, Channel 11 (The CW and it's subchannels, Antenna TV and This TV) and Channel 33 (MeTv). Otherwise it gets all the other channels perfectly, including a few I didn't know I could get. My other issue is that I attempted to attach a splitter (I have 4 TVs) and as soon as I did, I lost the picture on ALL the channels. I'm guessing I would need an amp of some sort, but not sure that would help the missing 2 channels, I think that may be a VHF thing. I'm only about 27 miles away from the towers (I'm in suburban Long Island) with several "McMansions" and trees surrounding me. I was able to pick up everything without any problems, except the 2 channels that won't come in at all. Not that big of a deal, but they ARE 2 channels that I watch regularly...My previous antenna (easily 35 years old! Yikes!) had NO trouble with receiving 62 channels on a good day but due to weather damage over the years, I lose half of them when it rains. I really like the Mediasonic antenna because it was SO easy to put together and is light enough for me (an average sized woman) to handle. I put it together and installed it by myself with no problems at all. A great product that I will definitely continue to use, but I will have to look into an amp or something for it. Very happy with everything except the missing channels I like and the inability to split it to other TVs. Thank you!Edit: I purchased a distribution amp and attached it to the antenna and now have crystal clear pictures on all 4 of my TVs. I still can't get 11 or 33, and I lost Ch 7 only in one room, but otherwise, the picture is wonderful!

After 2 years use, I Really Like This Antenna, Receiving Over 40 Channels.
I can’t compare this to any other antenna since it is the only antenna I have used.It is pole mounted about 14 ft above ground and anchored to the corner of my house. It sits about 6 ft lower than the “top” of my house, well below “roof line”. The antenna does not have to “aim” through the roof structure and framing materials, which I’m certain is a plus. The websites show the broadcast towers in my area to be about 25 to 30 miles away, some a little closer. Fortunately the majority are located W to NW and I don’t have to worry about adjusting the direction. There’s also a couple of towers directly opposite to the East, about 15 miles and I have no problem receiving these. Another tower is to the SOUTH about 50 miles away with no apparent signal loss.Lots of hills and valleys between me and the towers but I never loose reception or serious signal loss unless there is a storm.I have been able to receive a station over 70 miles away when I tested on a short 6 ft pole and away from the buildings. I feel confident IF this antenna was elevated above the roof line I could continue to pick this one up. But I don’t “need” it since it’s the same network I am already getting at closer range. So ... non-amplified signal, 16 ft high, and possible roof/structure interference ... AND STILL getting all the stations/channels I want - and from several directions.Until this one begins to fail, I don’t see any benefit of trying anything different.

Very satisfied with this product: I'm getting 21 channels with my current setup.
Very satisfied with this product. With my current setup (3 products), I'm getting 21 channels: SRC, CBS (+ 2 subchannels), NBC (+ 2 subchannels), CBC, TVA, CTV, Global (HD and SD), Tele-Quebec, Canal Savoir, PBS (+ 3 subchannels), V, ICI Television and City.I live in Montreal in the Rosemont borough, third (and last) floor of my apartment building, 55 meters elevation according to Google Earth. My complete setup (3 products) is the following: "HAUPPAUGE WinTV-quadHD PCI Express TV Tuner Card 1609", "RCA TVPRAMP1R Outdoor Antenna Preamplifier" and "Mediasonic HOMEWORX HDTV Outdoor Antenna - 80 Miles Range Support UHF / VHF (HW-27UV)" (all bought from Amazon Canada). That antenna is inside my apartment in the most south-west point of my apartment. My experience now is even better than the one I had when I was a client of a cable subscriber (Videotron and Bell) with a PVR provided by them. I'm getting all the channels I need (and more) for free and I can record and watch 4 channels at the same time. I can go on the web for the few things I'm missing. I've had that complete setup for 18 months now: I'm completely satisfied and I wouldn't go back to a cable subscriber.

Size Does Matter
I should have bought a larger antenna. Construction seems flimsy. My local stations are within 20 miles, some only 6 miles away, but due to hills and lots of trees and no line of sight I get intermittent reception on only 2 or 3 channels. At 40 ft I received no stations. I put it a couple of feet above the metal roof of my house and occasionally get 2 or 3 stations. My CM 7777 signal booster does help. I think this antenna would work okay if you have line of sight.

TV Antenna Saves Big and was Easy to Install.
This TV antenna I bought from Amazon for $39.99 works great. Ordered it Tuesday and it arrived today (Friday) at noon. It took 1 minute to snap the antenna elements in place. To quickly check it out I placed it on the basement floor next to the TV and used a 10 foot coaxial cable to connect it. Ran the auto-channel scan on my smart TV. It captured 9 stations and all very clear. So I didn't need to put it in the attic. It is now installed/hanging 4 inches down from the joists in my basement workshop and attached to the TV with a 25 foot cable. Still works great and rotating the antenna in circle and it didn't make a noticeable difference. Between the TV antenna and internet based entertainment my Cable TV service is no longer needed, saving me a bundle. I picked this antenna as it has the longer elements which capture the signal for the VHF stations and the short ones for UHF. This helped avoid using an amplifier at the antenna's connection and running 120V wire or extension cables.

Great Little Antenna
For the price, this little antenna was great. I would dare say it performs better than I expected, still pulling in distant (I'm quite rural) signals even when blocked by a thick wall of nearby trees, and poorly aimed no less. And all this without any sort of electronic (pre) amplifier. I am buying a second one for my other address.

much better than expected actually
I bought this for a TV I had in my basement that I was hoping to get a couple of channels on. This antenna works extremely well, much better than expected actually. I live about 50 miles from the closest TV station (Detroit MI) and I got about 15 HD channels with this antenna. Much better than expected. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap way to get free TV.
