Billy Idol - Vh1 Storytellers

This is Billy's best work. Stevie Stevens is at his best. The songs were masterfully arranged and modern. The band is dead on and obviously well rehearsed. The percussionists were a bonus. I can listen to this multiple times and can focus on a different instrument or part and enjoy what the musician contributed. For a live performance it is almost studio quality. The other 2 notables are the bassist Stephen McGrath and back up singer Stella Soleil who has an interesting back story(Sp?)

This is a very good DVD but a bit expensive.Excellent 5.1,I watched it 3 times within two weeks.If you like Billy Idol and enjoy watching concerts give it a try, it's worth the money.

did not want acoustic version,don't like it at all

I was really looking forward to this only to find that it won't play in my DVD player because it is not regioned for the U.S.A. It's Region code is 2/3/4/5/6. Will send back. It is listed as "all region" in the Amozon listing. They should change that or not sell in USA.

Uno dei personaggi più controversi del passaggio tra gli 80 e i 90 che si racconta e spiega retroscena e curiosità sulle proprie creazioni ,il che, unito allo splendido live che esegue rende di questo dvd un cimelio da collezione per coloro a cui piace il buon vecchio e caro Billy.

Ich bin ein Kind der 80's. War ein 15-jähriger Teenie als die New Wave Dekade so langsam den Punk verdrängte. Billy Idol hat mich schon damals fasziniert. Er gilt als Erfinder des "Mainstream - Punks", Punkmusik gepaart mit Popelementen und tanzbaren Rhythmen. Viele haben ihn über die Jahre schon totgeredet, doch Legenden sind bekanntlich unsterblich. Mit der DVD "Storytellers" ist ein Meisterwerk entstanden, ein "Must Have" für jeden echten Fan. Obwohl er mir persönlich besser gefällt, wenn er die Bühne rockt, so wie bei Rock am Ring 2005, trägt er die Stücke auf Storytellers mit einer solchen Emotion vor, dass ein wahres Gänsehautfeeling entsteht. Verschiedene Lieder kommen schon fast unplugged rüber. Das Schöne daran ist: Billys Stimme kommt voll zur Geltung und ist besser denn je.Die DVD ist qualitativ top, Untertitel wählbar, Sound mehr als sehr gut. Von mir die absolute Höchstwertung.Was hier auch zu empfehlen wäre, ist die neue Live - DVD "In Super Overdrive". Dort geht er richtig ab und lässt es krachen. Ebenso vom feinsten.

Billy Idol rules. I have been a diehard fan for 25 years, since I was 13. I saw him 3 times in the '80s-'90s and have been back for more 5 times in the new millenium. Billy rocks as hard as ever and his music is as fresh and exciting today as it was when it was written.This DVD is a must-own for anyone with even a passing Idol fancy. The sound is superb, the band is tight and exhilarating, and Sir William is in fine form, rocking out in excellent voice and looking terrific. He is a fantastic storyteller with a great sense of humor. You feel, watching and listening to him spin his tales, that you've gone round the pub with him for a pint. He is thoughtful, intelligent, and really funny.Although every single song on this DVD is amazing and sounds wonderful in this setting, two deserving special mention are the Gen X classics "Kiss Me Deadly" and "The Untouchables". Billy introduces "Kiss Me Deadly" by explaining how the song came to be and his heartfelt delivery is truly touching. These two songs are so dear to him (and me) and witnessing his performance of them brought a tear to my eye.It is a testament to the man and his music that every single song sounds so vibrant in this stripped down setting. And Steve Stevens is nothing short of brilliant.Don't wait - order this via "1-click" immediately! And Billy - we want more, more, more!
