I have a similar model to this but it just squirts water and sucks it up so not too helpful
Let me give you a bot of background. I am a bachelor and live in an apartment. I have worked at home for the past 4 years. might have vacuumed 3 times in that timeframe. I have a similar model to this but it just squirts water and sucks it up so not too helpful. tried it once, pretty much just made the rug wet. This baby is great. The carpet is really gross so I have to take my time but just grab some beer, plug in the headphone and enjoy it. The scrubby things really make a nice difference.Looked online and found that you can make your own unapproved warranty ruining shampoo mixture so thats what i did. some oxyclaen, windex, dawn and vinegar. Just a smal amount of each. Squirt it on and get the rug nice and soaky looking. Now, dump out that mixture and put hot water in the container.Start the cleaning process. It will be a bit foamy but no big deal, the hot water will tamp it down some.I still have a ways to go but it I can see actual light at the end of the tunnel. For perspective, I was using a giant scrub brush and a bucket to do this before. That really sucked. This machine is 100 times easier than that and really works.Great suction and takes a lot of abuse and neglect which i seem to be really good at when it comes to carpet care stuff.if you are remotely like me, buy this, you wont be dissapoint!!

Does a good job.
After years of renting a Rug Doctor, I decided to bite the bullet and buy this. We have no carpeting on the main floor, only hardwoods and tile, but the upstairs has a large carpeted TV room, and the downstairs is also carpeted. I got tired of hauling the heavy machine to my car from the store, and the cost added up. It was more cost-effective to own one. After a lot of research, I chose the Hoover. I just cleaned the carpet upstairs, and it did a very good job. Stains lifted right out, and the scent of the cleaner is light, not headache- producing. I had one puppy stain that I was concerned about, but it came out completely. The room is large, so it took two tanks of water to get the job done. I admit that I referred to YouTube videos to see about assembly and operation, and they were a huge help, especially because the clean water tank is a bit tricky to put in. It does take some muscle to operate it, but the Rug Doctor was even heavier and more clumsy for me. One thing I find a nuisance: hooking the attachments and hose to the back of the machine. It's meant to be convenient, but they did not snap in easily and kept falling off. I just stash them in the big closet where I keep the machine. I just ran up to take another look, and the carpet looks so nice. Recommend.

Works Okay Could Be Better
ASSEMBLYAssembly went relatively fast without problems. The instructions are fairly well written, the illustrations could have been better.SOLUTION HOLDING CONTAINERThe solution holding container is not the sturdiest . Sometimes it goes in really well, sometimes it requires several retries.DIRTY WATER HOLDING CONTAINERThe water is sucked into a second container that is the cause of complaints. The problem is that this is one of those do it all machines with an attachment for furniture. At the front of the holding container there is a tab that can move up and down and it needs to be firmly down for the vacuum to work. If it is not firmly pushed down there is no vacuum and there will be no suction. I can understand why there would be complaints of the machine not picking up any liquids from a spill.SUCTIONSuction is okay, it is not as good as a rug doctor, I estimate it picks up about 80% of all the solution and water from the carpet. I ran a fan for about 6 hours before the surface felt dry.BRUSHESThere are several round brushes and there is an indicator that tells you if they are spinning. There are three settings for the brushes. One setting failed after about 40 minutes of use. The brushes would not work on a setting. There is gap between each of the brushes which leaves a streak on the carpet. The best result I got by cleaning in a straight line and then at a 45 degree angle from the left and running it a 3rd time from a 45 degree angle from the right angle.SOLUTION SUPPLIEDThe solution supplied was enough to clean about 100 sq feet. I tried another solution I had used when I rented a rug doctor and there was no noticeable difference between the two.CLEANING SOLUTION EXPERIMENTAfter running out of cleaning solution I tried cleaning with other things and the best for my white carpet was Costco's ultra clear liquid laundry detergent. It worked just as well as the Hoover cleaning solution supplied.CLEANING RESULTSIt did pickup a lot of dirt, you can see it when emptying the dirty water container. The carpet is noticeable cleaner, but it does not look like new. It still looks somewhat dirty and the stains are very prominent. I am satisfied with it, even though the carpet does not look as good as I want it to look, it is much cleaner. If it lasts long enough to be able to use 5 times, I will be ahead as it would be cheaper to buy then rent.
