How to Judge a Horoscope, Vol. 1 Paperback – January 1, 2009

Both volumes, one and two, are very helpful to analyze horoscope that includes different aspects of effect on house and it's lord.Some real time examples help to understand it better. Need to have both volumes.

This and its companion volume are essential reading for any Vedic astrologer. I have had my copies for several decades and find myself referring to it still. It should be re-read at least every few years as you will learn from it no matter what your level of experience from beginner to very advanced. You will grow into this book.

B.V. Raman takes a very simplistic and black and white approach to Vedic Astrology in this series. Boiling his conclusions down to "good" or "bad" using methods that don't demonstrate Vedic Astrology's utility as a tool for guidance.This is not to say I don't believe in "good" or "bad" outcomes but you must flush out Raj Yoga's, mahadasha, and other divisional charts to call a position "Good" or "Bad". Many charts he seemed bad did indeed have potential if proper guidance was implied.One may say "Well this is just the basics, he's not supposed to be teaching us everything!" Yes, this is true. If you are going to teach the basics do not swindle your audience by reaching these black and white conclusions, this leads to very bad habits and misunderstandings. Show your audience how to read a chart and in "life-terms" the kind of things a person with a certain chart may run into.This book is very old school and the fact that it is still revered is an accurate representation of how slow moving the subject is and how close minded those who study it are.

2 star for print quality. 5 star for content. Amazon is ripping off by selling these substandard printed $2 books for over $10. Not fair.

Good book but jumps into charts without explaining basics. Probably a book for people who has knowledge on basics of vedic astrology.

I am attching some pics. Although, the colour of volume 1 is different than what is shown on amazon, but I like this colour more.

Good book on elementary knowledge about astrology. All' the basics well defined.

Mr. B. V. Raman has written some of the best books on Astrology. I have tried the predictions from this book and they are accurate almost always. This is one of the best books on astrology. I have read books from many other writers and a lot of them are not even close to Mr. Raman.The combination of planets and houses and predictions are really good.

It is a very basic book.One can start one's astrology journey with this book to understand the basic meaning of planets and houses.
