Simpson Strong-Tie HU66 HU Galvanized Face-Mount Joist Hanger for 6x6

I think I searched the web for 2 days looking for a simpson strong tie for 2 X 6 inch lumber with the lumber lying on it's wide side. Thanks to the millions of products on Amazon.com, they had someone selling them. I have built 2 mobile chicken coops, and needed to put roost boards in them for my chickens to roost. Most people use 2 X 4 lumber, but I wanted my chickens to be able to really sit down without having half of them hanging over the edge of the roost. So, for me, it must be 6 inch wide lumber, for their comfort. Installed them,put the lumber in them, and now I have the happiest chickens in Texas (except for a few others who care enough about their chickens to give them more comfortable roosts).

We were building a porch extension using 6x6 treated beams and needed a couple of these hanger. I went to my local building supply center and of course they didn't have any in stock, but said they could order them. After a few minutes on the phone, the clerk said thet they would be about $35 each. After some research here at home, I came across the same exact item from Construction Supply through Amazo and they were about $18 shipped to my door. Definately a good deal.

These joist hangers are sturdy. I was unable to find them in the local hardware stores. Thankfully they arrived quickly and didn’t delay my project.
