You Have To Understand
We received this unit and it did exactly what I thought. It cooled a bottle of wine from the refrigerator to perfect temperature in about 10 minutes and held it at that temperature. Most people have a refrigerator to cool wines to close to the correct temperature, this product only perfects the temperature. The fan does make noise, but I put it a recessed area of my bar so the sound is muffled. If you aren't smart enough to understand the purpose of this product you shouldn't buy it. Taking a wine from room temperature to proper temperature is something that should be done over time and in a larger refrigerator. This is not the product for a wine you just decided you want to drink. If you cant think that far ahead you have other problems.I have bid on a second on on e-bay so that I'll have one for my reds and another for the whites we are drinking.

This item is good. It chills or warms my beverage to its correct temperature of which makes it taste it's best in my opinion. My only complaint is that when it is on you can hear it very well it should have been made to be more quite.

Screen wouldn't work- useless
The cooling part worked great but the screen where you scroll and choose what type of wine you have never would work for us. This made the product useless as the function is to warm/cool your wine to the optimum temp for the specific type of wine. Very disappointed with Amazon as of late- second faulty product in the past month.

Performs as Intended
I bought this wine chiller about a month ago and am very pleased with it. A word of caution, if you are under the impression that this wine chiller brings a room temperature bottle of wine to perfect drinking temperature within minutes, this is not the product for you. Most of us store our wine in a home that is approx. 70 degrees, in other words too warm for wine storage which should be more like 55-60 degrees. We drink our whites too cold (straight out of the frig)and our reds too warm (room temp)this product is meant to bring a properly stored wine to perfect drinking temperature. Of course it is best to keep your wine stored in a device made for this purpose. If you don't own a wine frig or cellar my advice would be to put your reds in the frig about 20-30 min and whites about 30-40 min and then transfer to the wine chiller to reach proper drinking temperature to cut down on wait time. The wine chiller does emit a fan like whirring noise but if used as intended you shouldn't have to listen to it for very long and it does what its meant to do and is an attractive appliance.Update 3/30/2014After reading some recent negative comments on this product, I wanted to once again stress some KEY POINTS: This is NOT an "instant" wine chiller. If you want to drink wine for any other reason than because you have anything other than at least a mild love affair with it, then just buy the bottle and drink it as you always have and don't waste your time or money. If you have an appreciation for wine and all of it's varying nuances, you will see the value of this product.NOISE LEVEL- Yes, the fan does emit noise the entire time it is turned on, this unit is approx. 8"D X 10"T X 5"W, it is not a refrigerator and does not have a condenser. If you are having guests you merely need to turn it off and serve once your party arrives. If you are on your own you will appreciate that your last glass was as properly chilled as your first. I have mine in my the open area which consists of my relatively small dining/kitchen/livingroom area. I am the only wine drinker in my family of 5 and while keeping a bottle chilled I have never heard one complaint of the wine chiller causing excessive noise during any situation. I have found that when the fan operating sound bothers me, and quite honestly it does at times, I simply turn it off.

Sweet
Operation is foolproof. You just set your bottle of win in the top, select what type of wine it is from the menu, and wait. As with appliances of this type, the time it takes to chill a white wine from room temp to drinking temp can take awhile. I keep our whites in a wine chiller and use this chiller like you would use an ice bucket. it keeps the wine at the optimal drinking temperature.

There are a few more points I would like to add from my personal experience as well
User Sukie7 hits the nail on the head with his/her review for this product. Please read it. Its very informative & fairly accurate. There are a few more points I would like to add from my personal experience as well...1. I purchased this unit because my old Haier Single bottle wine cooler HW01ASS finally gave out after 4 years. It had a feature which would help this Waring unit a lot. The Haier had a reflective form fitting lid that kept the coolness in. The RPC175WS is an open unit & wastes a lot of the energy, forcing the unit to perform ALL the time. A waste of energy. Given a choice I would def choose the HW01ASS again but Haier does not make them any more :(2. When it was working the unit performed commendably, albeit very noisily. The fan noise is definitely loud and can be heard in the adjacent rooms. My ex HATED the noise so much, she threatened to move the unit to the basement.3. I was using this unit with only red wines to keep them at ideal temp (69 to 73 degrees, depending on the red wine) after opening the bottle & keeping it from going bad in-between drinking the wine (just like I did wit the Haier unit), which is a glass usually every other day for me. When in use the fan NEVER stopped, regardless of the room or bottle temperature & was def loud. My old Haier which was $30 cheaper & was def a lot less noisier + the fan would shut off once the optimal/chosen temperature was reached.3. Finally, as u guessed it... the unit broke after just 4 months of use. The wine chiller was pretty much in use daily 24/7 for the 4 month period (the Haier was on pretty much 24/7 for 4 years +) before dying on me. Its the way it died that was def discerning for me. Had a red in there & the unit literally was HOT & had heated up the wine bottle to 100+ degrees for sure. I managed to save the wine by mixing it with another red I had sitting in my refrigerator right away. But the fact that it heated up like that is scary.Still overall, I liked the unit, its beautiful, elegant & versatile, just not very dependable. But given that there is NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE on the market right now for a single serve wine cooler/chiller, i will repurchase this item if I have too & hope that I just got a bad unit the first time. Going to call Waring to get the replacement. will post my experience w/ them soon. But I did get a 3yr Squaretrade warranty at the time of purchase, just in case the Waring is hard company to deal with and also to get 2 additional years of protection on the device. Considering the breakdown I highly suggest getting the extended warranty from Sqaretrade. They r an excellent company to deal with :)

Two units are defective or there is a major design flaw.
We had an older model before and it worked great until it finally stopped working. We then bought this model. We have a temperature controlled wine room so all this unit has to do is maintain or slightly cool the temperature of the wine. For whatever reason, after the unit reaches the desired temperature, it often heats up the wine until it is literally warm. I believe it is a software bug in that instead of reaching the temperature and waiting, it mistakenly heats the wine. The inside area is so hot you can almost burn yourself. We returned the item and bought another of the same model but the results are the same. These units need to be recalled.
