Great watch for the traveler or just day to day use.
This watch is are placement for my husbands previous Wave Captor, which he loved. This watch has the same features and looks. He loves it just as much as his first. Since he traveled with the Navy, and now we both travel, the world time feature is a draw. The watch keeps perfect time through capturing info from the atomic clock. Another great feature.

Love the interface
It synchronizes easily every night. The watch face is easy to read, with both day and date. Love it. Don't know why there is no US version. Of course the EU and Japan versions work fine in the US.

Liked the day, date, month and year features.
Liked the day, date, month and year features. The fact that it's a wave ceptor is an added bonus. Was somewhat hard to remove extra links but once I found out how it was no problem to do so.

Montre Casio Wave Ceptor WV-59DE-1AVEF

Great watch, large, unfussy display and radio accuracy
Very easy to read with large digits for the time and I like the rectangular face. It tells me everything I want to know on one screen - time, day, date, and has the standard Casio features of stopwatch, timer, alarm etc. With the press of a button it can also tell you the time in another country. What more do you need? One bonus is it can display the date in the proper format - day/month, and not the annoying US format of month/day. The light is very good and illuminates the whole screen with a pleasant blue glow that makes it easy to see the time in the dark. I found it very simple to set up and set the time using the radio time signal (I live in the UK where I assume the signal is strong). I think some people have found this difficult to do but I believe the trick is to ensure you set your home location first, then the watch knows what signal to look for. On "manual" setup it found the correct time within a few minutes, and apparently it will do this automatically if you put it on a window ledge overnight. I sometimes go to Canada so it'll be interesting to see how it performs there. The bracelet looks pretty smart too, although some people have said it's a bit lightweight. Does the job for me though. Bit fiddly to adjust the length, but there are plenty of videos on the Web to show how it's done. Some people have also pointed out that the 'glass' is the highest part of the watch so it's likely to get scratched especially as it's not the highest quality of glass. That might be true, only time will tell, but what do you expect for a watch this price. Before purchasing it I did quite a bit of Web research to find a watch that did what I wanted, didn't have a fussy display, kept great time and was a sensible price. This was the one I chose and I'm very pleased with it.

Great value watch does all you want beware the watch band adjustment though.
Once you have the links removed to fit your wrist there is nothing not to like about this watch... Clear and easy to read, accurate, has 12 or 24h display, easy to set up, simple to get the local time when you travel and the manual actually makes sense ie it isn't written in pigeon English. The price point is excellent too and it does the simple things well without a load of fancy but useless functions. so why not 5* ? Back to that strap, why not use the old self-adjustable watch straps? As sold unless you are some sort of sumo or arm wrestler you are going to have to have links removed to fit your wrist, I'm not sure how that works if your wrist needs say 2.5 links removed. However the main thing is the process is not straightforward even if you go to a watch place. I live in the 4th biggest city and finding somewhere that could do it proved far more difficult than it should. Two Timpsons tried and failed, one jeweler said we don't do that work these days another dedicated watch repairer in a large department store also tried and failed before I found an "In-Time" concession in Debenhams that did it in 10 minutes! Oh and at £5 for £10 less than Timpsons quoted. So if you have this issue google will reveal where your nearest spot is and no I don't work for them or I would not have had the problem in the first place! This apart a top watch.

square chunky digital watch and correct time to the second - what more could you want!
Although the looks may not to be to everyone's taste, as someone who grew up in the 70s and 80s the chunky, square retro style and large digital readout looks pretty good in my opinion! As others have said, the bracelet is very big and may require the removal of links. This was not too difficult - requiring a small screw driver, narrow or needle nose pliers and access to YouTube. Any jeweler could easily do the job if you don't want to try yourself. As far as setup is concerned, a small instruction card suggests you set the City code first (- mine was defaulted to Berlin). This is not too difficult (press top left button for a couple of seconds so city code starts to flash, use right top and bottom to cycle through cities, press top left again to 'fix' the city and return to normal timekeeper display). However, in other regards the instruction booklet takes quite bit of study and is not always clear. I did manage to get everything set up the way I want after some effort - including City, European style (DD-MM-YYYY) date display and a City for the World Time display. The World Time setup was initially confusing until I read in the fine print that you must manually set Daylight Savings Time for the World Time City - it does not follow the main DST setting. Finally, it is useful to confirm that it is receiving the time signal ok - this can be seen by pressing bottom right button where it shows the last time it sync'd with the radio signal.I still havn't figured out why the reception indicator sometimes shows 100% and sometimes is not displayed at all. The instruction booklet is pretty confusing on this point!Edit: After a few years of use the watch now has a habit of resetting itself, which kind of defeats the purpose of a watch which is always supposed to show the correct time. Every time it does this you have to set the City and then usually wait for it to obtain the correct time. Disappointing for an otherwise nice watch.Further edit: After not using the watch for a while I decided to test it again. When worn it does indeed reset itself reasonably frequently. However, when not worn and left sitting on my desk it does not reset itself - apparently running for several weeks without resetting. Of course, this is not a solution but maybe it points to some other side-effect of wearing which is causing the reset - e.g. the buttons getting pressed inadvertently . Still disappointed I can't effectively use the watch since this issue surfaced.

Good Watch - Shame about the strap BUT...
Great Watch, Almost every thing 100%??The Strap!! I have average size wrists but this strap is way to big.Having a little knowledge in the watch market I decide to have a goand remove 2 links. I removed the fastener link no problem. Then started to remove the two links in the strap. Not obvious,So checked YouTube videos and bingo found what I thought I was looking for.Removed the required pin only to find that Casio have changed to strap.I CANNOT find a video for this strap. I have very easily got the pin out butthere appears to be 2 more pins which I cannot remove. If any one has founda way please let me/us know how. I went to my local jeweller/watch repairerbut he is closed until 9th January.Set up took 5 minutes, having the day and month the right way round is great. Why did Casio make this strap so difficult??Update:Anyone trying to remove links in this strap I have succeeded and here is how:Decided how many links to remove (I took out 2)1) Remove the spring pin in the clasp.2) On the inside of the bracelet look for the plate with an arrow and a dimple to the one end.3) With a small screwdriver carefully push the dimple slightly down and outward. The end will push out. It will take a lot of effort. Watch your fingers and hands and legs if doing on your lap. Don't let the driver slip!!4) When you have pushed out 2/4mm with a pair of small pliers pull this bar out.5) Repeat the above on the next link. This will allow you to remove 1 link, to remove 2 links remove the 3rd arrow bar.6) That's the easy bit. You will see a centre bar which was holding in the arrows bars. You need to keep one of theseThis is the tricky bit, you need to bend this centre piece 90 degrees and twist one end into the middle. You should beable to lift this bar out and refit to the bracelet (just look at the other ones and it should be obvious).7) Once you have this in place refit the other piece of the bracelet to the centre bar (as before).8) Refit the spring pin to the clasp. Note there are two holes to allow for some adjustment.Sorry if this sounds difficult but it is harder to explain then do.Now every thing is 110%. Casio need to revise this strap to make it easier to adjust.Phil
