Signature Design by Ashley Hogan Oversized Zero Wall Manual Wide Seat Recliner, Brown

I didn't order my Hogan 2 Seat Reclining Sofa from Amazon but directly from Ashley, since it was on sale in my area. It was delivered yesterday, February 6, 2016. I am giving my initial take on the sofa now and then will update it later, after having it for awhile. The sofa is AWESOME! I love the bulky, overstuffed appearance and feel; love how wide the reclining seats are. It is not as fluffy-soft to sit in as I had anticipated, but may with time; it does feel very nice, comfortable, and a far cry better than previous sofas hubby and I have had in the past. The material is nice; according to my husband (who knows his fibers), since it is made from quality micro-fiber it should wear very well. It reclines manually, nice and smooth. This is the first reclining seating I have had that didn't have the pull stick to recline, so I'm wondering how well this gadget that pulls out (as opposed to up and down) will wear. I admit I get a bit apprehensive pulling on it with the strength required to make it recline, afraid that it might break, but as I said before, that's because I'm not use to a reclining mechanism like this.Getting the seat back out of the reclining position takes a bit of effort; I have make a concentrated effort to thrust myself forward with force to get it to close. That's probably because I'm still regaining mobility and body strength after years of health complications and wheelchair confinement. It is much easier for hubby to get back into a sitting position than it is for me, so in time I anticipate it taking less effort. Speaking of reclining, the sofa seats recline nearly flat like a bed which is very, very nice.We love the balance of comfort and support the sofa provides; love the 'go-with-any-color-scheme' mocha color, and the bold, over-stuffed design. The arms are very comfortable and wide; wide enough for feline family members to snuggle on and nap while we watch TV. The fabric does have a nap. Advertisement description states the sofa is a full 96" long, but our sofa measures 94" from the very edge of one arm cushion (which extends a bit beyond the side of the sofa) to the other. The back of the sofa can be situated only 2 or 3 inches from a wall, and when fully reclined still not bump against the wall. Also, 32-inches is the narrowest opening/doorway that the sofa can be maneuvered through.I give this reclining sofa a full 5-star rating and have included a photograph of our lovely new Hogan. I will update this review in several months, after we have had time to determine the sofa's durability and how well it stands up to frequent use. (NOTE: this sofa will be getting much daily use as it is the only living room seating option in our small apartment.)JULY 10, 2016 UPDATE - we've had this sofa nearly 5 months now. It gets lots of use, but is wearing great. The reclining pull on my end of the sofa is still somewhat hard for me to pull out, but it is holding up fine. (I have discovered that the pull on hubby's end of the sofa is much easier to pull out than mine is, so now know that the problem I have having to pull hard to recline is unique to my pull.)The material is holding up well. Even though we have 2 (former shelter) cats, neither knead or scratch the sofa; I'm guessing that has something to do with it being made from microfiber material. The only tiny complaint hubby and I have with the sofa is that because it is made from microfiber, it holds on to every little particle (food crumb, lint, etc.) that falls on it. Brushing it from time to time, however, helps keep it looking nice. Other than that, we continue to love the sofa; so comfortable and roomy, how could we not.

The chaise was delivered fast and came fully assembled. The delivery company showed up on time the delivery men were polite and unloaded it quickly, brought it in the house, and put it where I wanted it. It was well packaged, cardboard underneath, and wrapped in a sheet of packing foam and two layers of plastic. They did an excellent job. Now about the chaise, as other reviews have said this thing is big, I'm 6 foot 2 and 250 pounds and this thing is so big I can sit in this thing and nothing hangs over. This is without a doubt the most comfortable chair I think I have ever sat in. The bottom is a memory foam and feels really firm but once you sitting on it it is so comfortable. The back is well padded and tall enough that my head isn't sticking above it and offers great head support. And being the back reclines you can set it at whatever angle you want. For me that's a huge plus, I'm handicapped I am an above the knee amputee and I have a crushed disk in my back so being able to recline the back helps by taking pressure off my back. Now for the cons, like all chaise's they can be harder to get in and out of but that's what you expect with a chaise and isn't a big issue like I said I only have one leg and I manage just fine. The second con is that this chair is so comfortable that I'm constantly falling asleep in it. Thank God for the DVR of I would never get to see a whole show. Not really cons but you have been warned :)The chair is well built and solid. The microfiber cloth has a real nice feel to it and looks really nice. How this chair will hold up over time I don't know but I think it will be around for many years. Well worth the money.UPDATE: It's been a year since I bought this chase and I still love it. I'm in this chair every day almost all day. It is holding up great, it still looks like a new chair. I have had zero issues with this chase. It's still way too comfy. The dog and I both love this chair.

The Chaise mocha color is very nice, neutral and of great quality. It remains a bit stiff as does most furniture until broken in. It is also bulky and quite wide which I did not anticipate but it is true to measurements as given. I think this furniture will remain a long time favorite as it is quite versatile to lounge and relax; work on laptop with plenty of space; cuddle up for movies or storytime; even as an extra sleeping space for those 5'8'' ish or below...I am happy with this purchase. just had some communication probs with delivery and notifications. That is why I rated it 4/5

UPDATE 2/22/2021: If this chaise ever comes back in stock STAY AWAY!!!! Just over the 2 year mark and the lever (which is plastic) has now broken so there is no way to adjust the reclining back. Not to mention when I first purchased the chaise the reclining mechanism never held, it would gradually slip all the way back if I reclined it even a notch. I kept the chair because Amazon did work with me on the price, but now I wish I had returned it and ate the loss of the restocking fee. My guess is someone else had returned it and it was resold rather than sending it backmthe Ashley for repairs. Never again will I buy sight unseen. Heed the negative reviews, they are honest.I purchased this chaise in December 2019, recieved it in January 2020 and loved it. It's now February 2020 and I'm regretting the purchase. Why? The cushioning in the back of the chair does not hold up which leaves a gap between the back and seat. The back now creaks as it has loosened up where the back connects to the seating and it isn't like the chaise can be returned.I wouldn't recommend buying online. That was my first mistake. My second mistake was believing most of the reviews.
