although the color is great, the polish immediately chipped

Definitely need 2 coats, if you only like 1 choose a different nail polish.
I loved the beautiful colour, I will say though that you definitely need two coats of this polish otherwise you won't get that beautiful blue. If you prefer to just use one coat on your nails I suggest a different nailpolish.
